hype alert!

to those of a new york city/boston persuasion:

if you find yourself with an inner longing that only an evening of tender alt-country sadsackery with a string section can satisfy, you're in luck: my band, buried beds, is sweeping through the northeast to play pianos in nyc on friday night, and Club Passim in Boston on Saturday.

in new york we will be joined by fellow philadelphians The Teeth and almost-philadelphians The Spinto Band. after we've made you ask deep existential questions you can say 'fuck it' and dance... they rock significantly harder than we do.

in boston we will be joined by the piano stylings of anne heaton. i have never been to the place we are playing but i gather it may be posh. bring cigarette holders!

it would warm what is left of my heart to see you there, wiping away a tear.

I'm listening to "Insomnia" now.

Wow. What a gorgeously rich sound. Nice melody and strings on that, sort of reminds me of Over The Rhine but better.

Where can I buy this? Seriously.

my cold and withered heart is swelling from the love!

druganaut: buriedbeds.com is in desperate need of an overhaul... which i will get around to. some day. your best best for factual information and current song clips is http://www.myspace.com/buriedbeds .

south: the album that 'insomnia' is on is not out yet. we're going to be putting it out ourselves i think, either in december or january. we will probly have some copies of it with us when we tour in december. (tba, chapel hill, nashville, boone, philly, new york, tba, boston.) our other ep, 'po tolo,' is still for sale through buriedbeds.com and you can hear mp3s from that at buriedbeds.com.

katie: it would be lovely to see you as always!

timmy: you're right. but lately my schedule has been very taken up with drinking absinthe in the dark and reading baudelaire and strindberg by candlelight. i will try to do better.

I'm impressed. A street teamer blatanly street teams his own band and receives a warm response form the jaded obners. Ergo - the band must be pretty decent.

Dude's roots are firmly planted here. Former editor-in-chief (?) of CMJ, ex-moderator of CMJ BBs and 1/4 Buried Beds. Swoon now.

it's true. i'm like herpes.. i lay low for long periods of time and then flare up.

and the band is pretty decent, i think.

(oh, and i was the managing editor of cmj at the pinnacle of my "powers" there. didn't hang in long enough to get to e-i-c.)

If the Chapel Hill show in December is a good night for me, I might try and make it up there.

Double the racialism. When you mentioned "Tom" and "east-coast", I figured you were referring to Sec'y of State Condolezza Rice; such would be quite the insult. So, I shot back, and called you Beaner.....

I know, I know - too much time spent watching Carlos Mencia's show on Comedy Central.

it's kinda hard to jump back in here, yasee. you miss a day, you miss a lot. or something.

i did however recently have breakfast with obner-er stu, and it made me feel sad that i don't actively participate in this here community as much as i did long ago.

oh and tom's coming to visit me in ca$hville, and that's awesome.

Looking forward to the Nashville gig w/ nico's new band. My b-day. I should be nice and sloshed. Loose lips sink ships.

No, sorry, I won't be there.
