Gotta go with "other" - and as others said, Achtung Baby. It's one of the few from that year that I still regularly listen to, or even want to and is one I can guarantee I'll be listening to 5 years from now, or probably anytime in the future.

yeah Achtung Baby was a glaring omission. I count 4 votes for it now, and it may win this poll outright.

FWIW, I voted for Spiderland. Easily top 3 all time material for me and I doubt I'll ever hear another record as genuinely haunting

My vote is predictable (Loveless). Simply transcendent.

this was really really tough. like a lot of you have said, '91 was an important year for me music-wise. while ten and nevermind were huge for me, this boils down to gish vs. loveless (2 of my alltime favorites). today, loveless wins.

I wasn't much of a fan of Loveless at the time and I kinda hated PJ & Nirvana from the overexposure, though I came around on them both with some distance.

But good golly was I ever obsessed with U2 right around then (until 1993-ish).

I originally thought that Peter Murphy, Catherine Wheel and La's came out this year but was off by one year. Another great year but than what year isn't good. I couldn't even put down releases by the Orb, Pixies, or Spaceman 3. Also have a feeling that I'm really missing out not knowing Massive Attacks landmark album.

i remember so well sitting in my dorm room freshman year, first semester...bringing some of these cd's home and playing 'em for the first time.

Ride is 1992 but they do win with best EP as Today Forever came out in 1991 and still is one of the best four song EP's I own.

Yeah, fucking great year for music; I was 16.

Sucks that I have to "Other" and it really sucks to have to not vote for some of my favorites but Trompe Le Monde blows them all away.
