And do they work the same and on a Mac?

Just curious. Need to get a birthday present and keep seeing the HP ipods on clearance.

HP's MP3 players aren't ipods; that's the main difference. Functionally, they are the same. Apple marketing department is proud of you, though.

No, no, he's actually talking about the HP Ipods that were available last year. HP made a deal with Apple to produce them (I think I read because Apple actually couldn't handle the demand at the time) and in exchange HP got to put their brand on the back. They are 100% identical in every way except the box had an HP logo on it, and the chrome back has an HP logo below the Ipod logo (I have one.) For the record, HP is no longer producing them, not sure why.

Yes, I'm talking about the HP ipod.

But this is good The 1gb shuffles are at Macmall for like $99 and you get an FM transmitter and ipod skin. My 13 year old wants one for his bday.So I think I'll get him that.

Thanks guys!

I couldn't live without my display.
I can't remember the name or artist of every track, especially when on shuffle.

I know. If it were for me, it would be a no-brainer. I'd get the newer 60 GB ones. But it's for a soon-to-be 14 year old that is NOT the most kind to things electronic. soooo the shuffle is solid state and has no moving parts and is CHEAP. So if it gets destroyed it won't be as traumatic and I won't get as pissed off.

Just looking to preserve my sanity. Besides, this is what he wanted.
