This is weirdly fascinating, not only about Holmes, which is an amazing story, but about the porn world in general. The strategizing they had to do in order just to shoot a film to circumvent being arrested is incredible. Holmes himself seems like kind of a creep, an Eddie Haskell type, compared to Ron Jeremy. Having seen Ron's doc 'Porn Star', you get the impression that Ronnie is overall a good guy, one in need of attention, but for lack of a better term, an innocent because he really believes that he might someday have a mainstream career. Holmes, in comparison, is basically a cokehead sociopath.

The doc is also amazing in other ways, because of Bob Chinn, who is in essence Burt Reynolds to Holmes' Dirk Diggler. I had no idea that most of the Boogie Nights' porn scenes are shot for shot remakes of actual Holmes movies, right down to the scene where Dirk is claiming that he blocks his own scenes. It's actually Chinn and Holmes, right down to the lighting.

Highly recommended even for those who aren't into porn.

I don't think that Ron Jeremy is of the opinion that he'll break into mainstream film... But it does seem that he knows he is being paid to have fun, and is having fun - malice is not in his vocabulary. (Well, it prolly is, since he was trained as a teacher... But y'know what I mean.)

I don't know, after seeing Ron's documentary, he really expresses a desire to perhaps have a mainstream career once he leaves porn, which is likely not going to happen for the most recognizable name and face in the industry. He seems really proud of all of non-porn work too, even these little 2 second appearances in movies like Killing Zoe. Everybody who comments on him in 'Porn Star' considers him to be the nicest guy and a total professional in porn and mainstream work.

Paul Thomas Andersion has an interview spot in this as well, doesn't he?

Those little 2 second cameos seem like a mainstream career to me, though. I'm sure they more than pay his pills. And even people like me who have never seen one his pr0ns know exactly who he is (not that I haven't seen porn, but regardless.)
