My manager name dropped these guys five or six times during the staff meeting tonight. I'd never heard of them. In a flyer they gave us, the cd was listed.

It basically synopsized it as thus:
-mainstream opera
-in the vein of Josh Groban
-their first single is a Toni Braxton cover
-members from all around the world
-Oprah Winfrey loves them

Any two of those points on their own would equal to a horrible, horrible band. But to combine all five! I asked my mom if she heard of them because she works in a clinic that plays crap easy-listening light rock Chum-FM stuff. She'd never even heard of them.

So who is the audience for this? My grandmother likes Josh Groban. Is it predominantly marketed to the deaf/elderly?

#6. They were manufactured a la The Spice Girls...
#7. ...by Simon Cowell!

BTW, maybe Grandma probably knows, but what is that nickname the Josh Groban fans call themselves? Grobanimals?

Looked it up--I guess it's Grobanites but I thought it was something different.

Can you imagine Il Divo and Josh G. on the same tour--even performing TOGETHER! omigod, how hot would that be!!

The only reason I know about Il Divo is due to one of my best friends. She was taking me to the airport and had the jewel case sitting on the passenger side. When she began to tell me about 'em, I knew it was something I'd never listen to. What a frickin' joke!

Except for point number four, these are all valid reasons for disdain.

Well, number four basically ties in with Buck_Wild's number six.

It's rare that a band that formed out of friendships or whatever will feature every band member being from a different continent.

Alongdrive,

We're friends right? Let's form a band together. I think we can get s'plates to join.

Instead of opera we can do a white polynesian revue. What do you say?

Only if we can do a Paula Abdul cover as the first single.

Simon Cowell's busy with these guys, maybe we can get Donald Trump to produce.

Deal. A barbershop trio of "Blowin' Kisses In The Wind" it is then.

My agent will be in touch with your agent shortly to negotiate the details. What are you going to be wearing for the video?
