I love O Brother, Where Art Thou? and The Big Lebowski.

I thought Fargo, Raising Arizona and The Man Who Wasn't There were okay.

What should I see next? I've had The Hudsucker Proxy on my list for a while but none of the video stores or libraries around here have it in stock.

Hudsucker Proxy is probably my favorite.
Paul Newman makes a great asshole and he doesn't play one that often.
Tim Robbins is just perfect, too.

Okay, I added a poll. That's probably easiest.

Miller's Crossing absolutely bored me to tears, and then sleep.

I thought Intolerable Cruelty was funny, but then it just drags too long.

I'd say either Blood Simple or Barton Fink.

I voted for Intolerably Cruelty just because it was so different than their other movies. It's a great romantic-comedy and you might enjoy the change of pace.

Barton Fink gets my vote, but I don't think you can go wrong with Hudsucker, judging by your preference (Blood Simple, Miller's, etc. are more of the "darker" Coen films).

Ladykillers is actually pretty good in parts - Tom Hanks - but it's awfully uneven and loses a lot of steam. Intolerable Cruelty was astonishingly meh, despite the great acting.

But here's a thought - Coen films tend to get better the more you watch them, so I'd recommend watching Fargo or Arizona again.

Miller's Crossing is one of my favorite movies. That was an easy vote. I was waxing poetic about this flick just a few months back I believe.

b. fink, blood simple, hudsucker. I second Fu's sentiments re: Miller's Crossing, and add O Brother which I've never finished.

you should probably watch these again if you thought they were only okay.
as a rule Coen brother movies get better every time.

And the closer you are to the Midwest the more you appreciate Fargo.

I'm just not that into thrillers or whatever, as a genre. I'm sure for the kind of film it is Fargo's brilliant. But seeing as how I'm not into those kind of movies, I wasn't too into it.

'Raising Arizona' had parts I liked about it but on the whole I just didn't like it as much as as O Brother or Lebowski.

Then the more you should see Oh Brother. The music is great and the movie is funny. I don't think it got much exposure. With all the music fans here, I would have thought more Obners would be into it.

i don't really consider Fargo a thriller.
it's a dark (possibly pitch black) comedy.

I've seen all of the movies listed except Intolerable Cruelty and The Ladykillers (which I've meant to see, I just keep forgetting). They're all worth watching, even Crimewave which may not be on DVD yet.

And, yeah, a big part of what the Coen's do is an over-the-top, almost cartoony take on noir. The Man Who Wasn't There is probably the dryest of them all and lacks the charm and occasional whimsy of Miller's Crossing (packed full of campy old ganster movie dialogue) and Barton Fink. You may not be into that sort of thing, but I would still recommend checking out those movies and Blood Simple. There are worse ways you could spend your time.
