Episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and I see it features a mass arsenic poisoning at a church. Though the scene is moved to a coastal island, it's still obviously inspired by the events that happened just a few miles up the road from me, a story that I covered, involving people I know/knew.

Anyone else ever watch something and realize it's based on an event you knew about firsthand?

Sometimes on the X-Files they'd indirectly refer to the neuropsychologist I used to work for a couple years ago. Except they'd usually use the term neurophysicists and the 'god module' in the temporal lobe.

Unfortunately, yeah. Friend's mother...an incredibly nice lady who treated me well...was murdered. Due to the circumstances the case was a national one; newscasts, Barbara Walters, People Mag, etc. There was at least one book written about it, too. Still creeps me out more than 10 years later...
