So I keep flip-flopping and going over my favorite album this year, mainly between Spoon, Low, and Dulli. Meanwhile, Aha Shake Heartbreak consistently spends the most time in my player. The Southern rockness, the borderline perverse lyrics from preacher's boys, that voice.

"Girls will love the way I toss my hair,
Boys will hate the way I sing."

No.

I know, they dig in after a bit. I keep revisiting both albums.

Yeah Aha Shake Heartbreak is a grower. I just got finished uploading "Soft" into what is to become my November 2005 mix.

I'm such a dork.

I just saw them last night in Nashville. Good show, horrible sound (gymnasium.) Got to go backstage afterwards and the boys and their family are all genuinely nice peoples. Dem Pentacostal boys know how to drink (and hit on my hot friends.)

Read my mind. On my trip across Canada, that was my soundtrack for the most part.

I love these guys. I see 'em get dissed, but for just a straight up rock band with some memorable songs and guitar riffs to spare, I can't think of any current bands better. Saw 'em playin a local medium sized bar and they tore the joint up. They also hung out at a local bowling alley, and were nice, down-to-earth guys as well. They weren't all 21 then (don't know about now) so only a bit of drinking was involved.

The first album's still my favorite of the two although I really like 'em both. First one just kinda sticks in my head more.

I heard a song of theirs played on the radio a lot earlier this year around May, buckets something? Anyway, I liked it. What other songs should I give a listen to?

I just watched this "100% U2" show on VH1 or MTV today (I can't remember the exact channel) where they interviewed the band about their current Vertigo tour. Supposedly Kings of Leon open for a bunch of U2 shows and Bono talked about them a lot during the special. He said that they're basically his new favorite American band and that he likes to hang around with them so U2 can steal their ideas.

The timing of this thread is uncanny. I just listened to Aha Shake Heartbreak the other day for the first time in a couple of months, and realized just how great it is. Going in to that listen, I was thinking it might squeak in around #20 on my year-end list, but upon further review, it has definite Top 10 potential.

If you don't like Kings Of Leon, you don't like rock n' roll.
Love that band.

Love 'em when I hear 'em. Most of it outside "Molly Chambers" doesn't stick. I also keep thinking of ...Heartbreak as an '04 release since that's when it dropped in the UK.

I liked 'em from the gitgo, but trying to convince friends was like pulling teeth. Guess I need new friends, eh?

i didn't like youth and young manhood much, but i sure loooooooove aha shake heartbreak. i sure didn't expect them to pull one like that out.

i skipped the nashville show the other night because of that venue... saw modest mouse there and it made me want to poke my ears out with a fork. kol is surely kickass live, tho.

Yeah, the sound was fucking atrocious, but it was still easier to take than that modest mouse show (which i also saw.)
