It was a hit eighties track and I remember the lyrics being very hushed. I swear there was a more popular track that sounded just like Close to Me but by a diffeent band, like Love and Rockets or INXS. Crap, Help!

I don't remember a track sounding like Close to Me... maybe Love and Rockets' "So Alive?"

INXS' Need You Tonight is stripped back and spare-ish.

Interestingly, she's not saying "Faith," but...

Maybe it's the original Cure version of the song instead of the later remix.

"Close To Me" always sounded like The Cure after listening to too many Culture Club records, in my opinion. The Head On The Door is still a great album though.

The answer lies in the date May 2nd, 2002.

Karma Chameleon pops up now that Seth mentions it.

I always thought Close To Me was one of the more interestingly-produced songs to become a bit of a hit in its time. And the video is great.

People never fail to spontaneously clap along when I play "Close To Me" whilst DJing. Makes me mighty happy.

So... what was the right answer?
