So, it's a given that he leaves the White Sox for the Red?

Does this mean that the Brewers will be spending another off-season dealiing with the South Side?... What could Overbay yield from that team anyway?

<---------------------- still shocked that Luis Vizcaino and Scott Pohsednik could net Carlos Lee

we got a steal on Lee, but I think the sox win that trade...winning the world series and all, Podsedink was huge in the series.

We who live in the New York area who get to see Matsui day in and day out know how good he is. He's humble, he's consistant, he hasn't missed a game since he came to New York, he puts up big numbers, and he's a more then adequate fielder.

I was very reluctant when they first acquired him, but he soon calmed my doubts.

every GM in the league would take him on their team, but the evil empire wins this one.

Yes. It is the same as if the Doyle Alexander trade had worked out, and gotten the Tigers to the Series and a win; in that case, the loss of Smoltz wouldn't look so bad... Not to rub it in to the Michiganders on here, who prolly like to forget that their pitching-poor club could have had a number one starter for a decade or more.

When I saw that the number of posts in this thread had gone from five, right before I posted (again), to nine, when my second post herein went live, I knew that Paper and I had succeeded in baiting the Sox fans.

As it is, if the money is now there to sign others, how to explain that the loss of Konerko - who some might call the "heart and soul" of the team (overrated terminology, but I like to cheat from King Kaufman's book of sarcasm) - is considered a given?

What about having to choose between Buerhle and Garland? Isn't Crede's departure basically a done deal, too?

I just don't see where the team is going with it... Not matter how good that former Stanford quarterback - I think I am thinking of the right guy - is, that all is hard to replace.

Konerko's loss is a given? Since when?

Crede is here for this year, but he might be traded midseason depending on the outlook for the year after. Garland might be baited for a trade this year, there's a lot of moves that could be made. I've heard Garland for Abreu, Rowand for Abreu, Rowand for Pierre, lots of stuff.

Gar Finnvold. Mid-nineties Red Sock. Infamous in my rotisserie league, also has gar as his given name. I think the latter speaks to why the former is.

Ah but of course! I should have known. I have that baseball card around at home somewhere.

Was the contract's closing anything like the "global commerce" scene in Shopgirl?

Do you have any idea how much the YES network makes by syndicating the games to Japan. It would all go away if Matsui signed elsewhere. He's getting above market for his talent but its still a great deal for the Yankees all considering. He's a much better player than his stats show anyway.

Yes, but he's not worth it to a lot of times that have decent left fielders at a good price. The argument that everyone would take him is retarded.
