BTW, Vegas puts the over/under on the number of pages this generates at 5.
For informational and amusement purposes only, of course.

you gotta remember that they're bloggers!

oh, and i saw the national with 5500 and was screaming "i won't fuck us over, i'm mr. november" at him during that song, so i have a feeling i'm partially responsible for his comment about them.

There aren't many high crimes here; just another list by a gang of half wit dipshits. We do the same thing all the time.

True, but we just post on a webboard. These people fancy themselves somehow slightly more knowledgeable - enough so that they've gone and started their own mp3/blogs.

The National at #2? Come on.

I guess I have to pull for Rogue Wave right now, so go Zach!

After listening to the samples, my impression hasn't changed. Kind of embarassing 90s roots rock.

Bands on their list who should be there, though all pretty much ranked MUCH higher:
Hold Steady
Spoon
MMJ
Crooked Fingers
Kings of Leon
Andrew Bird
Black Keys
AmAnSet
JV

Egregious oversights:
Ted Leo + Pharmacists
Shins
Sun Kil Moon
White Stripes
Eagles of Death Metal
Deathray Davies
Starlight Mints
Detroit Cobras
Of Montreal
Dressy Bessy
Pernice Bros.
Oranges Band
Volebeats
Michael Penn
FB & Catholics
Greenhornes
DBT
TV on Radio
French Kicks
Sunset Valley
Jim White

And the most unforgivable snub of all...

JOHNNY TAINT AND THE CANS OF PISS!!!

But, wait - no on Pedro the Lion?

I am chagrinned. Prolly one of the only late-model artists that I dig.

... Though, if I play my cards right, I might add Ike Reilly to that list. He's playing Mad Planet on Saturday, I am off work that evening - only to get some sleep, but not too much, ahead of time (pull closing shift at the kino on Fri, open it at 730!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saturday (six hours between clock-out and -in)).

I would have, but Achilles' Heel was too steaming of a turd for me to pull the trigger. I sure hope he's got another Control in him. If he does, he EASILY makes the list!

Honestly, I thought Control was the steaming pile. Winners Never Quit is his best, in my opinion, though I prolly enjoy The Only Reason I Feel Secure more, due to when I heard it first (the season, and my mood (pining for Liz Matelski (who was a pop-punk princess dating the singer in a trad-ska band), when if I wouldn't have been so dense (and truly recognized shit) Kate Morrissey would have had me all up in her shit, and shit).

Achilles's Heel meanwhile was a grower for me. Listening to it in the car, last fall, on the interstate on the way to St. Louis, then Denver, turned me around on it.
