fuck yeah on basement jaxx. in a bad mood? feel like dancing? throw on b. jaxx.

wolf parade always, always makes me happy. nothin like cruisin down hollywood blvd blasting wolf parade with your best friend singing at the top of your lungs. :rawk:

the stones and spoon always put me in a good mood too. radiohead always soothes the soul for me. and it's perfect hangover music.

oh yeah, and let's not forget 80s cheese music. sheila e, suzy q, mj's P.Y.T., that shit NEVER fails to put me in a fantastic mood.

mostly stuff that brings back fond memories:

pavement, superchunk, archers of loaf (aka early 90's "college" indie rock).

newer stuff:

wilco, sigur ros, my morning jacket and belle & sebastian.

<<Listening to Brinsley Schwarz right now and it occurred to me that they never fail to put a smile on my face and make me feel GOOD.>>

Good call on that. YOu could say the same for Ducks Deluxe too. Nick Lowe just had that humanistic touch. And Ian Dury, he might be the best of that whole lot in the 'feel good' department.

Humor is always good. An ace country novelty song delivered by a master like George Jones is hard to beat. E.g, yabba dabba doo, the king is gone (and so are you).

That song is aces. And it does bring a smile to my face if only due to it conjuring up the image of George Jones getting pulled over on the freeway on his lawnmower while headed into Nashville on a liquor run.

Damn, Dr. Hook and George Jones mentions. Kick ass.

I'm also gonna throw in The Temptations.

Lately I've gotten a kick out of the first couple of songs off Green Day's American Idiot.

Mr. Pop, tell me about this Brinsley Schwarz.

John Otway is another one that usually puts a smile on my face.

The Fools, too. Even their suicide song "Mutual of Omaha" makes me happy.

YES!!! I love when Imus spins that song. And nice pull BillyG, that lawnmower to the liquor store story is probably my favorite rock'n'roll tale, ever.

You know who Nick Lowe is?
T'was his band in the early 1970's. Imagine, if you will, if The Band were a bunch of Brits. That's pretty much the sound of the Brinsleys.

And HERE is the AllMusic review of the disc I was listening to when I started this thread.
