So I was reading URB, which is my CMJ these days (Grimey's in nashville carries cmj on the newstands btw) and I ran across She Wants Revenge. They're a Joy Division/New Order ripoff, so if you're down with that stuff and you can handle a rehash, this shit is all you! These tracks sound excellent! Dark and dancy! Awesome! Of course it is Interpol like too..

I like 'em even if they are doing the Interpol thing.

Tell me more about this URB magazine.

Yup, one of our local bands strikes again. I too am diggin' the sounds of She Wants Revenge.

Wow! URB, haven't picked up one of those since back in my subscription days.

I'm pretty sure it's been around for awhile. It is ultimately based on electronic music and hip hop, but lately there has been a good deal of indie rock coverage as well. This month there is an interesting article with A-Trak, Tommie Sunshine, & Kaskade about the future of DJs. There is always a shitload of reviews every month. It's printed on nice paper if that matters. No cd though. Try it for $4.99.

I know Tanny and Dri said they're down with these guys so I figured I'd comment on last night's show. Yea, these guys are definitely not doing anything new or anything, but what they do sounds good to me. For sure an Interpol vibe with a kinda toned down Radio 4 vibe to them too. This was good Friday night music. The main reason I bring this thread back up though is my brief conversation with them at the merch booth...

I go up and ask for their full length because they had a cd on the table. They quickly tell me they don't have a full length yet and all they have is this EP. I ask then what did I download off Slsk and they both simultaneously light up cigs and go, "oh, then you illegally downloaded our album". And I of course apologized and asked when I can purchase their album. They looked at me extremely weird after I said I got their album off the net. I found this strange and I guess when I think of it LA bands can be unappreciative, right? No one else was even paying attention to these guys at the table. I quickly thanked them for the good set and left.

I hate buying EPs a month before a full length comes out and all the songs on the EP are on the full length. Not sure if this was the case though with these guys.

Don't know if anyone in or around Chicago would care, but they're playing at Subterranean this Friday around 11ish. It's only I think $8. Should be cool...

the cd comes with the subscription... URB's an LA-based magazine created by raymond roker, a drum n' bass dj. lately i haven't been getting any cd comps with my sub though. bastards.

Think I might catch them at Mercury Lounge in NYC. Gave them a second listen, not bad, and I got nothing else going on
