...and my bank is closed so i can't call to cancel it.

i've searched EVERYWHERE. and i'm so panicked.

the last time i saw it/used it was at the atm last night. did i pull away without grabbing it? jesus.

there was someone in line behind me. dammit.

i can't even call and cancel it because my bank is closed. they don't have an emergency number for things like this. why the hell not!?!

Who are you banking with, Ed's Regional Bank?

Do you not have some sort of online banking?

it is a stupid local bank.

and i never signed up for online banking. the option is there. i wonder if i sign up today if i'd get automatic access to my account.

it's worth a shot, i guess. thanks for the idea. <fingers crossed> hope this works.

And I'd suggest you check your pants pockets but I picture you only wearing those long hippie-girl skirts.

Have you checked inbetween the seats of your car? How high were you when you were at the bank?

not under the influence at all. :P i had just left work.

i've checked pants pockets. hoodie pockets. every nook and cranny of my car. (i did find my postal service cd case i've been looking for though. but i just can't find the joy about that right now that i normally would.) every nook and cranny of my wallet. i've retraced my steps. called the people's houses i was at. it's nowhere to be found.

i really think i might've left it in the atm.
i know normally if you do that.....the machine will just suck it back in and destroy it. but there was a car behind me. i really hope that guy doesn't have my card. i wonder how long it takes the machine to suck it back in.

grrrr. this sucks.

why doesn't the bank have an er line for this! they will definitely be hearing about this.

oh. and the online banking thing requires a number FROM MY ATM CARD. grrrrrrrrrrr.

A friend just did that recently up here - left it in the atm. It didn't destroy it. She went back to the machine a day later and somehow came back with it. Maybe there's an option from the main menu called "Oops I Forgot My Fucking Card In Here."

is it a visa check card?
if it is, then those should be covered.
If they didn't have your pin you should be safe.

it is a visa check card.

and in a sheer fit of luck (luck?) .... i found an old, old number for this bank that had an option for putting a hold on the card. (why this option wasn't on their main number....i do not know.)

so, a hold is on the card. and i'll have to take care of it on monday.

thanks for all of your customer support. ya'll are some real pals. ;) :)

phew. now i need a nap. that was way too much stress for a saturday afternoon.

there's a mechanism at my bank where the atm will pull back the card if it's not removed after, like, 30 seconds. i don't know how you go about retrieving it after that, though.

I lost my debit card one day without knowing I had.

I'm notorious for stuffing dollar bills or debit card down my bra. I figure the girls will keep my stash nicely nestled in there. Apparently, it's not always the safe place cuz one day while pumping gas, I stuffed the card in my bra and it ended falling out. Dunno how it happened, but it did.

A day or two later, I received a phone call from the Visa people asking me to call them back. I was busy and ignored it. Couple of days pass, need some cash and go in search of the card -- no luck. What the hell did I do with my card? I, too, tore up my purse, wallet, car...no luck finding the damn card. Wait a minute -- that phone call from Visa?? Could it be? Nahhhhh...lemme call either way. Sure 'nuf, someone had found the card and tried charging about $500-600 on it (it was near Christmas time). Luckily, I was fairly broke and didn't have that much money on it. But, STILL -- it was kinda scary. It was nice to know that those bank fraud systems work.

The End.

I left my ATM card in a machine a couple of months ago and I went and got it from the bank the next day. I don't know if it got sucked in or not.

What really sucked one time was when I was using my ATM card and the machine wouldn't give it back AND it was on a saturday so I had to wait til monday to talk to my bank. Luckily I had online service so I just transferred money to my savings account and got some money out of there. I had to pay $5 for a new card though.

Yeah, I bought my TV online from Circuit City last year with my debit card (I had just gotten my bonus) and the shit went bonkers! I had to talk to the BOA people forever to approve the transaction. It was annoying but it made me feel good about BOA. Because, despite being my bank for personal shit for nigh on 15 years, they are some ARCH criminals.

Semi-related note: Bank of America is the only bank using this "site-key" technology to thwart online fraud.
