Try using rubbing alcohol on a soft cotton ball.

If anyone did that to my CDs, even a child, they wouldn't exist the next day.

Borg, sorry but rubbing alcohol doesn't do anything to the plastic on a cd. I have done it, and as long as it is real rubbing alcohol it will be fine. Try it on a POS CD if you are that worried about it. besides it's not like you are soaking the CD in it ferchissakes. BTW, what KIND of CD is it? a store-bought one or a burn-able one?

The CD is made of a plastic that won't disolve with rubbing alcohol. DO NOT USE denatured alcohol. it will cause the CD to form small cracks or craze. Denatured is a much stronger solvent.

I just took my REM-out of time CD and used 70% isoporpyl rubbing alcohol on it and it was fine. I did the same thing on an HP CDR that had Sharpie all over it and it was fine. Just sayin.

Edit: on the top AND bottom.
