It's no buffalo springfield, or buffalo pantera for that matter.

Anyone buy into the John Lennon tie in. 24 years to the date.

I'm not sure what the relevance is in 24 years. Would seem slightly more odd if it was 25 or 30.

Well, I guess that's not the only coincidence, as Dimebag was definitely the Lennon of my generation.

Within the metal genre he was a lead guitarist and songwriter of a popular band that had recently split.

Pantera's split was recent?

Maybe this person figured that the damageplan might not be playing there at the same time next year.

I heard Dimebag had recently signed the guy's copy of Power Metal.

Fletcher from Pennywise is pissed. (Pantera is his favorite band. Who says punkers are insular?)

Shit could get ugly next time the Warped Tour hits north-central Ohio, then.

most recent AP Wire story (12:45 eastern):

(Columbus, Ohio) - Police are releasing new details about last night's nightclub shooting that killed Damageplan guitarist "Dimebag" Darell Abott and four other people.

Investigators in Columbus, Ohio say the gunman, identified as Nathan Gale, had a hostage in a headlock when a police officer shot Gale.

Officer James Niggemeyer was patrolling nearby and was in the club less than a minute before he shot Gale, allowing the hostage to escape. Investigators say the officer's actions saved other lives.

Witnesses say Gale burst ontage during the group's musical introduction and shot Abbott several times at point blank range before firing into the crowd of more than 250 people.

Police say they may never know the motive for the shooting, unless Gale left a note.

Abbott and his brother were long-time members of successful metal group Pantera.

That is so fucking sad. Fulger Display was awesome. I even had the album after...Oh yea, Far Beyond Driven. Got a little too much though. But no one deserves to go out like that, well except the guy that did it I guess. Damn. RIP
