Wu-Tang related albums? I've always felt that Wu-Tang bridged the link between rock and rap fans.

Anyway, here's the list:

Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the 36 Chambers
Wu-Tang Clan - Forever
Wu-Tang Clan - The W
Wu-Tang Clan - Iron Flag
Ol' Dirty Bastard - Return to the 36 Chambers
Ol' Dirty Bastard - Nigga Please
GZA - Liquid Swords
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
Ghostface - Ironman
Ghostface - Supreme Clientele
Ghostface - Bulletproof Wallet
Ghostface - The Pretty Toney Album
RZA - RZA as Bobby Digital
RZA - Digital Bullets
Method Man - Tical

Feel free to comment on the others as well, but I think I pretty much covered all the major ones.

I thought you didn't post here anymore? Not that it's a bad thing, I dig your posts.

Anyway, I'm only familiar with the Wu-Tang and Ol' Dirty albums of what you listed. Enter the 36 Chambers is the only one I find myself consistently going back to, though I would say I like them all.

Heh, well when I said "I don't really post here anymore," I didn't mean it was indefinite, just that I haven't spent much or any time reading or posting here recently. I don't have anything against the board or anything, I just became uninterested when the number of music related posts went down to about 5%.

Every once and a while I'll have a music related discussion (such as this one) that seems perfect for this board so I'll go straight here and post. Hopefully there will be more music related posting now that it's nearing the end of the year (top 10 lists, etc.) and I'll find more that I want to post about.

If he could have lived, in his senescence he would have assumed a place in hip-hop not unlike Keef's or Iggy's spot in rock.

An original, a creative tour de force... Unlikely to be duplicated.

I'm a fan of most everything wu-tang related. There are a few duds in the lexicon for sure, but more gems than duds.

i think odb gets a little too much credit. without a really good producer he's nothing--his third album was a fucking travesty (i know he was in jail and everything, but c'mon, insane clown posse?) and i know his voice is cool, but he's not a good lyricist at all--dude has been recycling his verses off 36 chambers on every one of his albums. most of my favorite odb musical moments are more about clever production than big baby jesus (i.e. the backwards verse on "shimmy shimmy ya", "hey.. dirt-eh", the "jesus i'm rolling with you" chorus, "sexy sexy sexy... <clap clap>," etc.) he was definitely the first member of the wu tang clan i ever liked, i've still got lots of love for him, but the more hip hop i listen to the farther down he slips in my wu-hierarchy, i just think he's been fortunate enough to be associated with two of the best producers in hip hop: the neptunes and the rza. ghostface, raekwon, the gza, method man, i can listen to them no matter who's on the boards.[/i]

This is the only one i dont know. The others all range from good to another plane of greatness (36 Chambers). Alot of people rag on the two RZA solo joints as Bobby Digital, but they're definitely not without merit.

Overall solo Ill give to Ghostface, the others have dropped off over the years (or, unfortunately died). Overall best solo album would probably be Tical, lines in that still bring a simle to my face all the time. I hear RZA is gonna be back on decks for Meth's next album, so hopefully no more shit like Tical 0: The Prequel.

I like Liquid Swords but GZAs can be a little overly cerebral at times, and i dont listen to it as much as the others. ODBs albums arent as great as I used to think they were, but still enjoyable. Whens the new one coming out, and how was the Osiris mix?

Raekwon's first is fantastic too - RZA's darkest and best production. Really the first wave of Wu affiliated albums are overwhelmingly awesome, with scattered brilliance in the subsequent albums.

One more thing - The W is their most underated release.

Careful (Click, Click)
Protect Ya Neck (The Jump Off)
I Cant Go To Sleep
Do You Really (Thang Thang)
Gravel Pit

sure it has 'Conditioner' on it too but still their most underrated release

Even though I don't own all of the albums I listed YET (36 Chambers basically spent 6 months in the "rap slot" of my CD player), I think that Liquid Swords is the only one that's pretty overrated. It's definitely consistent, but none of the songs really stick out as anything great, and a couple ("Cold World") are kind of annoying.

As an average suburban white boy, I don't like the Wu-Tang Clan.

But I do like Jay-Z, De La Soul, Public Enemy, Run-DMC, Boogie Down Productions, etc.

So I don't know if Wu... are the epitome of the rock/rap crossover. I always kind of attributed that to RUN.
