Has anyone watched any of these hour long episodes on Showtime? If so, how are they?

I suppose I'll have to wait for the dvd if they're any good.

Curious myself as to the quality of the eps. I dunno though...what will they do for season 2? All the talent is pretty tapped...unless they do the Asian market.

I'm sure they could find some other directors. Rob Zombie, Eli Roth (Cabin Fever), Pang Brothers (The Eye), Zack Snyder (Dawn Of The Dead remake), Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers), Rob Schmidt (Wrong Turn).

Yeah I did. I thought Zombie did a good job of capturing that TCM 70's vibe. I guess it's supposed to sort of be a sequel to House Of 1000 Corpses but I haven't seen that and from what I've heard I'm not missing much.

Yeah I completely forgot about Roth. One of the films I'm looking forward to is his HOSTEL which just looks and sounds brutal.

I thought both of them were at least admirable. Isn't zombie doing a cartoon or something next called el superbeasto or something to that effect?

Shiv--are you a horror fan? If so what are yr faves?

Besides most of the above movies:

Re-Animator, Audition, The Howling, Basket Case, Near Dark, Ringu, The Thing, The Devil's Backbone, The Night Stalker, 28 Days Later, Zombie, Halloween, Tenebre...shit I could probably go on for hours.

Also, the Friday The 13th movies just for dopey, sentimental reasons.

Nice. I love horror as well. Love the classics. Haven't been too impressed lately with too much coming out on the US front. These remakes are making me dizzy. Not really horror, but screwed up enough, did you see Old Boy?

Yeah but I only remember like the first half hour because I fell asleep during it. No fault of the movie though because I started watching it at midnight.

Highly recommend it. Both stylistically and story at hand were amazing.

Yeah I plan on watching it again at some point. I might buy the 2 disc UK edition at some point. I usually try and check out this site to find out what the most complete dvd edition is.

I saw a couple minutes of Freddy vs. Jason, and I have to agree -- even though it's crappy, horror-wise, I still enjoy it for nostalgic reasons. When he perforated the guy, and then folded him in half, I was laughing. I mean, c'mon, who thinks this shit up?

Nice, I'll have to keep that one bookmarked. Although that doesn't save you from when they rerelease something with more goodies.

I really can't stand the Freddy movies beyond the first one. Too many bad one-liners which makes him way too goofy to be even moderately scary. Though I do have the Friday The 13th box set and even though Jason isn't that scary either at least I don't have to listen to him make bad jokes.

Hrm, I'm in the same boat. I dig the first films, and then maaaaybe a stray one here or there. The franchise that I overall liked more than either of those two was Halloween. Why those films haven't gotten more of a special treatment (a la NoES), I will never know. Definitely some wicked material out there, mostly on other region DVDs, boots.

Yeah I really like the Halloween series too except for that last one with Busta Rhymes. I've been wanting to buy the first dvd for awhile but I'm trying to decide which version to get, the 25th anniversary edition or the 2 disc one that includes the theatrical and tv versions.

Don't know about Season 2 of this, but rumor has it if this series turns out well there might be a Season 1 of Masters of Science Fiction.

Imprint was pretty fucked up. I guess I can see why they didn't air it on the first season.

I've seen most of these now and except for Miike's and Carpenter's contributions they've been mostly crappy, though Landis' Deer Woman was kinda funny and Coscarelli's and Gordon's were decent. Argento's first one (Jenifer) was pretty shitty and I'm about to watch Pelts which I hope is better.

I was just looking at that on Wikipedia and apparently it's going to be on ABC and the host of it will be....................Stephen Hawking? This might be a trainwreck of epic proportions.
