Que?

What, is there like a Dominican mafia in Boston or something?

No clue, but in keeping-in-theme I always liked this one about Albert Belle.

He cannot walk around Boston without getting assailed by fans. This is not so different than a superstar in many areas, but Boston is a fairly small city (makes sense if you have spent time there) and the fans are especially rabid. Manny wants to ideally go out west, where it is much easier to lead a more isolated life

Translation: Boston sports fans live bicariously through their sports figures in a frightening way. I was lurking at a Red Sox board after they were in hate-ourselves mode once Epstein left. They attributed his leaving to that same reason, apparently David Wells can't do jackshit in public without being confronted by an angry mob.

I've never seen it firsthand but I'm pretty sure the majority of Boston pester the shit out of sports figures here.

I've seen Varitek and Robert Kraft (separately) in a Dunkin Donuts that I work near and I didn't say anything to them. Varitek looked like he was in a bad mood. Varitek used to live on one of the routes I delivered to but I never saw him at home. I think he sold the condo to Doug Mirabelli. I'd probably say hi to either of them if I saw them there but I wouldn't go all apeshit and ask them to sign my cock or something.

On another note, I felt bad for Ellis Burks when I went to spring training and a few people were standing there waiting to get his autograph and Manny pulled up and everyone RAN over to his car to get his signature, myself included. Manny was pretty nice about signing stuff though and my friend even said to him "You didn't have to stop, you could've just drove by and no one would've known." and he said "I don't mind, it's my job." We talked to Ellis Burks at another game we went to down there and he was a really nice guy. I'm pretty sure I'm just contradicting myself here but I guess it was a different situation being at a game and such.

I would...but I would have him sign 'Tek', just to make sure it fit
