Goddamn Obner. Why can't I edit my polls?

Stupid laptop. It ruined my thread, I was going to list more laughable releases from them. Grrrrrrrr.

Oh well, I guess I can do it here:

OTHER CHOICES:

- Rock In A Hard Place (1982)
- Done With Mirrors (1985)
- Walk This Way with RUN DMC (1986?)
- Permanent Vacation - The "Comeback Album" (1987)
- Pump (1989)
- Get A Grip (1993)
- Nine Lives (1997)
- Just Push Play (2001)
- That Song and Video They Did For The Movie Armageddon
- Honkin' On Bobo (2004)
- Aerosmith Is Still Making Great Albums Today But Don't Just Take My Word For It, Ask Any 45 year-old Mom.
- Other, please specify

Just Push Play marked their final approach into schlock, but it prolly started with the contribution to the Armagdeddon OST ("I Don't to Miss a Thing"?). In fact, I didn't pick that only because I cut them just enough slack since there was the motivation of getting to work on the same project as one's daughter... But, otherwise....

There are 3 Aerosmith songs I never want to hear again as long as I live:

Walk this Way - Is it just me or does it seem like on at least a quarterly basis, some fucking show on TV has to remind us that this song was groundbreaking and is responsible for bringing rap and rock together? Who gives a fuck. It sounds boring now.

I Dont Want to Miss a Thing - I seriously can't remember a time when I actually thought "hmmm this is kind of pretty in a guilty please sort of way." And it only made sense later when I found out Diane Warren wrote it.

Angel - I wake up every morning to this retro 70s/80s/90s station. And they play this song constantly. Blech.

You know that artist tournment I'm doing on another website? They're in the semi-finals, and nobody knows why.

Permanent Vacation and Pump were both decent all-around rock albums from aging veterans. I'd say Get a Grip is where they jumped the shark for good.

I'm going to agree with Spade here, Get A Grip is where they crossed the line into suckitude.

I pretty much think everything they did after the 70s sucks with the exception of 'What it Takes' which I've always had a soft spot for. They had some good songs in the 70s but I can't listen to them at all anymore.

What was their draw (round-by-round)?

"Livin On The Edge" was pretty decent on that album, but yeah, I agree.

Forever imbedded in the Top Ten Ugliest Bands Ever. I never was a fan, but they crash landed into Doors & Eagles territory when they started re-writing the lyrics to that one fucking song, then put Alicia Silverstone in the video for that one fucking song to act out some kooky adventure. I'm guessing that was around Get A Grip, because I still willingly paid attention to singles from Pump. Well, maybe not the singles, but the "Love in an Elevator" made 12 year old Fu wanna tickle his weiner.

What was their draw (round-by-round)?

In order: Jimmy Cliff, Sex Pistols, Prodigy, REM, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley. Prodigy, REM, and Elvis were all margins of three or fewer votes.

To put it in context, this is a karaoke board based in the UK, so the other three semi-finalists of Queen (who knocked out the Beatles in the quarter-finals), Madonna, and Elton John make sense. Aerosmith... not so much.

Yeah, I agree this is when then band discovered the secret recipe of the power ballad, and started churning the out at a fantastic rate.

But after Crazy and Cryin' which are both great IMO shit gets old.

"Pink" is the stink.

When I was 11, I loved Permanent Vacation and Pump. But I had no taste in music then.

Ah Pump...my friends used to play that on a fairly regular basis, and I can honestly say I just never dug Aerosmith. I do however admit to not disliking them as much during that whole "Crazy" period due to another friend playing "Get A Grip" over and over. I can still remember my friend telling me how "Eat the Rich" was such a bold song, and how Aerosmith didn't subscribe to the celebritydom.

I did get the Joe Perry solo record from my college's radio station when they were throwing out vinyl (!).

My thoughts exactly. But I guess the fact that they ripped themselves off by cribbing the chorus to Lick and a Promise for Jaded is another indication. But they released a lot of shit between Get a Grip and Just Press Play, so I go with the former.
