Just occurred to me the Yanks must have retired #8 twice because that was also Babe Ruth's number.

Or maybe I'm remembering wrong. I'll look it up when I get a moment.

I hated Ana Lucia for like the first half hour of the show and now I just feel sorry for her.

Adebisi still rules.

Ana Lucia held the Iraqi hostage after killing Shannon because of fear of his revenge. Subplot: she was a preggers cop who was shot in a B & E and ended up murdering her assailant rather than locking him up. Mr. Echo carried Sawyer to the camp, and Kate heals Sawyer. Jack has a nasty slice. People reunite. Slow motion. Orchestra crescendos. Ish fights back tears.

I also hated Ana Lucia for like the first half hour of the show as well and now I just want her to die more than any other character in the history of television. This character and actor is seriously ruining the show for me and I'm starting to dread watching it, to be honest. Worst casting decision in history. The introduction of Echo/Adebisi is the extra weight that is not letting this show slide into the fucking gutter for me. I can't wait for his backstory.

It makes me pissed off because I'm not one of those idiots waiting for the program to show cracks so I can take shots at it. I still watch The Simpson's, for fuck's sake.

Loved the awkward meeting between Locke and Eko (not Echo).

I agree, Ana has ruined the show, and was part of the reason I didn't watch it last night. Don't they use focus groups anymore for the casting of these shows?

Why don't you like Ana? Is it because she's despicable, or because her character is poorly executed or something? I mean, she's supposed to be despicable, if that's the case.

I don't know one way or the other, because I've missed some episodes. I guess that doesn't matter ...

I find her annoying, shrill, irritating etc., etc., etc...There's the villain you hate because the character is so vile and, yeah, bravo to the actor carrying out the part as that person has done the right job. This is not the case. Michelle Rodriguez just yells and screams a whole lot then pouts with this Kubrickesque glower. She's kind of despicable as a character, I guess. It's the incessant bossiness and aggressiveness unchecked, she's just so one-dimensional and incapable of anything other than this blustery rage. Maybe it's the writer's fault too. Maybe I might be heaping too much blame on the 'actor'.

I still fucking hate her.

Yea, I was seriously looking for a curveball with Ana Lucia concerning Shannon's death that would make Ana more sympathetic or at least less shrill and pissed... Since there was not one, and she went all (more) weird and annoying this episode, I agree that she's so over the top it is officially distracting to the series and needs to die quickly. The back story, including her mom being a LAPD bigwig, A-Lbeing shot, and revenging it Carl Bronson style wasn't all that great. ... and we never found out why she ended up in Australia and on the flight.

Just hoping this doesn't veer into 2nd season Twin Peaks territory with plot lines going absolutely nowhere until it had lost it's viewership.

Definitely. That is an interesting character. Kind of mysterious, strong, violent if needed, yet capable of mercy and good judgement. And then he stopped talking for 40 days, which demonstrates an amazing will. His backstory should be super interesting.

For me this season hasn't been that good. I loved the Desmond stuff, and his tie with Jack. The whole Ana Lucia storyline sucks. Why is she so important? It seems like the whole story arc with the "Tallies" revolves exclusively around her as if the other characters don't exist. And like others have said here, her character is more annoying that interesting. In small doses her character could be okay, but MOVE ON. She isnt why we fell in love with Lost. Now with the Hatch open, the show feels more like a soap opera in a grungy commune, than people stuck on an island out to get them.

I want to hear about the monster(Is it dead?), and the island myth. I want to see more Charlie, Hurley, Locke, Kate. I really want more episodes in a row, with out this fucking 5 week break that is coming up after next week. That BITES!

The island seemed dangerous when they crashed. Not it seems like Cancun after a hurricane. Compelling, but it has not teeth.

Well, "The Other 48 Days" dealt with the dangers of the island pretty well. I think it adds a new question to the show. Why did the tail section have it so much worse than the front? Why didn't The Others try kidnapping Walt earlier? Why didn't they try kidnapping Sayid, Locke, Jack and other threats?

As for Ana-Lucia, she will drift partially into the backround. I was really annoyed that Lost focused so heavily on Jack and Kate, but eventually there were episodes in which they were only supporting characters. Right now, Ana-Lucia is important, and she probably will be for a few more episodes.

This episode is kicking ass.

Eko: Best new addition to the show. I was mesmerized during his story.

Nothing, they haven't gotten to it yet.

I have a feeling this is gonna be a helluva cliffhanger because there off for about 3 weeks after this.
