Snow (a resurrected Ish & Brother original, from the mid 90s, in honour of):

Snow
Don't you know, there's
Snow
In the morning
Snow
In the evening
Snow
Everywhere there's
Snow

And I thought for sure this was going to be the traditional Thanksgiving Day cocaine thread.

Argh. I love snowy weather...just wish I could be sipping hot cider & rum with my honey instead of sitting at this damn desk trying to work. :(

Mmm, honey.

I just read a story by John Fahey about how great the everything would be if we all just thought about honey all the time. I can't do it though. I hate today despite my love of honey.

I saw the belly of the beast
It was warm and open
Blood lay all around
I crawled inside
& lay down to sleep
All through the winter

I'm down on it, admittedly. It's not to blame, really. I'm just not feeling it. I must manifest that. Work's good, though. Outside of it, I've just been trying to play tennis or squash when possible, read, eat, listen, and go to shows.

CD Esoterik's closing, so we officially have no good record stores. Farewell party's tonight.

Why are you down on Mtl? I thought you were just starting to really love it. Is it all the newly-arrived indie rock kids?

I heard about Esoterik. That's pretty sad.

I'm working my last shift at Soundscapes next Thursday.

I serendipidously got a part-time job at TV Ontario which I'm pretty psyched about. Maybe now I will save my brain from turning to mush, as well as have some free time to work on my own projects. I feel very lucky.

That's great, P. Best of luck.

I love Montreal, I do. I'm just not feeling it right now.

Ah. Mmmkay.

Cool, I guess.

Also cool: though it's not their logo, your avatar makes me think of the Quebec Nordiques.

And fuck all that Denver bulla.

My avatar is based on the Nordiques logo. It's the Ninja logo combined with the bygone Nordiques logo. This rendering will appear on the new Ninja Tune Deadly Karate Chops hockey jersey with fleurs de lis +++.

If you only you did vinyl; Beatnick's on St.Denis is my favorite "record" store that I know of.

Of course I do vinyl. It's all I buy, really. Esoterik had great vinyl. I don't often go to Beatnick, but it's right down the street from me.

Now that is sad to hear. Any loss of vinyl dealers, especially good one's, is devastating. Where is/was Esoterik located? Aren't there a number of good stores on St. Denis?

Esoterik was downtown on Ste-Catherine west of Guy. There's a bunch of used shops on and around St-Denis, and on Mont-Royal as well. A couple decent stores for new vinyl as well. Nothing came close to matching the qual inventory that Esoterik carried, which tended to be of a more experimental mindset and vehemently dedicated to promoting local releases, which has done a lot for the scene here. That, and they were very friendly.
