Just kidding. I saw it the other day and thought it wa so-so. Maybe it was because I didn't pay enough attention but it didn't really grab it either. Willem Defoe did a great job!

Just watched this with the wife 2 nights ago. I've seen Rushmore, but remember zilch about it. Otherwise, none of Wes's other works.

I enjoyed this. I think she liked it even more than I did. We knew almost nothing about what to expect, and we bought into the loopy, sparse pacing. It hit the spot. I found myself eagerly awaiting the next portugese song from Ziggy Stardust.

I saw it a couple months back, thought it was one of the most boring, pointless movies I'd seen in a long time. And I went into it with low expectations, having read plenty of reviews that pretty much slayed it. I just didn't like it, not at all. I'm usually more than open to growers, but I honestly can't be bothered to ever waste time on this again. However, it was worth picking up just to be able to rip the Bowie covers from the second disc.

I liked it better than The Royal Tenenbaums but it's not something I'd go out and buy.

And its still in the shrinkwrap. Oops.

Its funny because everyone you ask has a different order. Nice.

I liked Life Aquatic, but The Royal Tenenbaums made me want to drink an entire bottle of rubbing alcohol to end the experience. I didn't like any of the characters in the latter at all.

Reverse this, and you kinda have mine. I never bothered with Life Aquatic. This guy has the stench of a one trick pony. I mean, even Michael Bay varies the stars of his crap-a-thons.

Bottle Rocket = Quirky indie film, with a fine Jimmy Caan cameo. (Guarantee that dude got paid in blow and a night with the Mexican maid chick what's his name's obsessed with.

Rushmore = Kinda funny, great soundtrack. The type of thing I convinced myself I liked in college.

Tenenbaums = Reads like a retread of Rushmore, plus a family dynamic. Nice costumes. Quirkiness for the sake of being deemed "clever." Soundtrack not as good as Rushmore.

Life Aquatic = I don't see myself ever taking the time to watch.

I saw this awhile ago in the theatre with my b-f. We had heard so-so responses to it but ended up really liking it.

It made me want to buy the DVD of the Royal Tanenbaums.

If you're into art direction, cute, eccentric, semi-depressed characters, and good music then his movies are hard to beat.

Anderson to me is such a stage-oriented guy. LA was definitely a stage film. The sets, the characterizations, all of it would of made one hell of a play. I think secretly he wants to be a Broadway director.

From a filmmaker's point of view LA and RT were tops. Art direction, cinematography, dialog, all win win. Much more fluid and constant. No hiccups like in his previous films. His characters felt much more fleshed out as well. The scene with the cut away of the ship...priceless. Not many directors are doing it this way--in a faux French New Wave, English Mod type of way. I love it.
