Since yourmusic and BMG are the same I need some recs...I have 4 cds that are burning a hole in my pocket.

looking for:

something more acoustic
perhaps world
something more obscure

I know its not much to go on, seeing as you probably don't know much about my collection, but some feedback would be appreciated.

Own one album...and yes, that may well be a choice. Although, I think they only have a GH on there. Keep 'em comin'.

I'm going off BMG's catalog and trusting that they are the same as you say.

Jackson Frank "Blues Run the Game"
Joao Gilberto "In Tokyo"
Milton Nascimento "Courage"
Salif Keita "Mouffou"
Marisa Monte, Arnaldo Antunes & Carlinhos Brown "Tribalistas"
Kris Kristofferson "Kristofferson"
John Prine S/T
Tony Joe White "The Heroines" or "The Beginning"

I was in the Seu Jorge mood, and couldn't think of his name. The top 4 look to quench that and give me the roots of what he's doing.

Nice selections. I have all four of those. The first three are especially good. If you end up not crazy about Tropicalia 2, don't give up on Gil and Veloso...that's not one of their better efforts for either of them. I should have thought to recommend 'em but didn't think of them before you said you were going for a Seu Jorge mood but they have a couple of really good Brazilian comps

A double disc bossa comp called Chill Brasil and a Samba Soul comp. The Chill Brasil is a series in which they've had different brasilian legends curate a comp picking some of their favorite and often less well-known brasilian songs. BMG only has the first in the series but its the best of the three and is curated by Marcos Valle who may be my favorite brasilian artist. And the samba soul comp while not as good is exactly the sort of music Seu Jorge plays. They used to have some Verve samplers too that were pretty good. Don't know if they still have those or not.

Nice, yeah I'll have to check those out. I've been all over the place lately, but after seeing the discussion and yr purchase of the new Seu Jorge disc, I was thinking more and more about it, and decided what the hell. Thanks for yr help. Appreciate it.
