it was o.k. on stage. I think it will really suck on film.

I don't know if you're a theater buff or not, but in the stage production, it was very clear that Jonathan Larsen was a huge fan of Stephen Sondheim, almost to the point of losing his own voice in his idol worship. The thing that kept it from being a total Sondheim rip was the fact that Larsen just wasn't as talented as Sondheim. Maybe in time he would have grown, as it was an impressive debut. I just think people got caught up in the back story of larsen dying the night before his show went up.

I'm seeing it, though it appears to be crap.

But the ever-lovely Rosario Dawson is in it, so I must pay my respect.

Good woman you are.

it's a regal.

and there's a boy i have a pseudo-crush on that works there. so, i try to go every week. my friend teases me because i clam up and can't talk to him. well, i do talk to him. we always chat about movies. but i always stammer and act unnoticeably strange. (my friend notices. and i notice. but no one else does.)

At least you havn't gotten to the point of asking him out, and offering, "Let's go to the movies sometime".

Maybe go to Perkin's or Baker's Square, some such, for coffee and pie.

But don't be a dork, like me. I've asked out a coupla baristas in my day - for coffee. Super faux pas.

no. haven't worked myself up to that yet.

but my choices are limited. he works at the coffee hut at the movie theater. (he has another job too. but i forgot to ask him what it was. see. so unlike me. i'm usually all about asking a bajillion questions.)

so, that foregoes coffee AND movies.

There's this girl I have a crush on at the Regal we go to. She has most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen.

I've seen RENT in the theater, and I saw the movie on Wednesday. I thought it was great!

I think having the original Broadway cast (other than Rosario) really helped.

You'll have to report back to us. It has been panned, and since I have no basis...I would imagine critics are probably being overly harsh on it though.

Actually you couldn't be more wrong.

It's getting pretty decent reviews all over the country, in all the magazines and papers. Many of them three to three 1/2 stars.

The major complaint in the reviews is that some of the play doesn't carry over well into a film but otherwise stellar performances.

I'm curious to see this. We almost went to see it while in NH but had family stuff to do instead.
