Try taking some deep breaths. In through your nose and out your mouth.

I'm only usually nauseated after being hung over, which nothing but time cures for me.

I bet you could leave if you really tried.

yeah, without pay.
but even worse than that....
i have a TON of work to do ... and we already have a skeleton crew because of people taking extended holiday weekends.

so, leaving really isn't an option.

the breathing trick seems to be helping.

Interesting. I've been getting this a lot lately.
Even before I go to work.

For me I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I really don't want to be working there anymore. I got a new job and just want to move on--i.e. at least for me it's psychological.

How is the air quality where you work? Sometimes that can be a factor.

Listening to calm music might help a well.... it will keep your mind off it.
Easing up on coffee intake might be good to (not that I practice what I preach).

take care

interesting you bring this up.....
our air quality is pretty horrible.
lots of stagnant air.

when they're cleaning our presses....there's lots of fumes.
i don't smell any today. but that doesn't really mean anything.... i'm going to see if they're cleaning the presses today.

Don't get me started on nausea right now. oy

But whatever you do don't take peppermint, they lie when they say it helps, it can actually further irritate the stomach and cause heartburn. Oh joy.

I would say try and find some crackers, and maybe a little ginger ale or water. But sip slowly.

Specifically, saltines -- not something greasy like Wheat Thins or butter crackers.

Yeah, stick with not consuming anything flavourful at all: water, saltines, pretzels, not much more than that.

Maybe you need some auditory stimulation.

i'm nauseated for the following reasons:

1) i drank too much alcohol this past weekend, and my stomach feels like it's torn up.
2) being a girl really sucks one week out of the year
3) i hate my job and don't want to be here right now

try eating some soup to calm your stomach and so that heavy foods won't upset it even more. or 7-up/sprite. avoid caffeine (it will make it worse). go outside and get some fresh air. taking medicine is not going to necessarily help either- it could make you more sick.

or try drinking a mint tea. that usually helps. don't go for green, that's usually a bit too strong.

I came in today and my boss informed me of his weekend-long bout with this. Still early in the season but anyone know what flu is looking like this winter? ie--terrible or mild.

Hope you feel better soon. Drink plenty of fluids (not alcoholic, though) and get plenty of rest.
