I'm ashamed to say I can't (apart from some pretty basic French) but I'm going to have to learn Greek and probably Latin for my course next year. Yikes!

Anyway it got me thinking "that Obner bunch are all quite clever, I wonder what languages they can speak?". I know Aural speaks Spanish well but what about the rest of you? Anyone fluent in a foreign language?

OPA, you ARE Greek. So speaking Greek hardly qualifies as a foreign language.

I took French in high school and way too much Spanish in college, and while i can communicate in Spanish im pretty much limited to 3 languages:

Proper American English
Crunk/Redneck English
Unintelligble Chemically Induced Babble

or some combo of all 3

sure.

went to high school and some university in Germany, as well as doing one of my majors on German (literature and politics, mostly). so, German for sure, though my fluency has dropped off without using it on a daily basis.

i used to speak fairly good French in high school after 6 years of classroom French and a great deal of time spent near Nice, alas, i can barely make it through reading a sentence without going for a dictionary.

i would really like to learn Arabic (or at least 1 or 2 proper dialects).

I took Latin in h.s. Not that it has any use for me, nor can I remember any of it.

Um, it'd be nice if I could speak Korean & Japanese, since that IS my nationality after all.. but all I can say is that I speak Engrish really well!

I can read & write a little bit of Korean. That's just about as Asian as I'll ever get.

I can read some french, retaining what knowledge I have from 3 yrs in High School. Speaking it is a different story. I'm not bad, just confused by it.

That's it.

I can speak and understand Ubbi-dubbi. (Anybody else used to watch Zoom?)

I took Russian for three years in high school, and can say hello, goodbye and fuck you. I can still pronounce Cyrillic words but don't remember what any of them mean.

I remember hello, thank you and some kind of equivalent of 'nice ass' from when I lived in Seoul.

When I worked for the Gov. of Alabama, he was going to Korea to meet with the Hyundai people about locating a plant in Bama...and I told him that I knew how to say these things, he looked at me incredulously, like "how the fuck do you know any Korean?" and then he had me teach him all three.

Gurped up some Bul Go Gi, Yakki Mandu and Kim Chee yesterday, too.

As for actualy speaking..I had a fair handle on French at one point, and think if I lived in Montreal or France, I'd pick it up pretty quick.

Chinese is the one to learn, though kids.
