I like certain songs (swallow that, precision auto, mower), but the production is just so compressed...also the back half falls off quite a bit

I agree that the last third (last 3 or 4 songs maybe) is not as strong as the head of the album. that said, on a whole I think it's stronger than NPFK. I don't have too much of a problem with the sound of it.

And this record has fucking "Package Thief." You could put "Package Thief" on Celine Dion's last album and I'd probably give the record 3.5/5 stars.

Would someone care to educate the unedumacated? Who are you talking about?

Superchunk's 2nd album "No Pocky For Kitty" (1991) vs. their third album "On the Mouth" (1993). If you like pop/punk and haven't heard either, get them both.

Ahhh. I have Cup of Sand (or is it Chunk of Sand?), but I haven't really listened to it for some reason, except for the badass cover of "Beat My Guest". I will have to dig it out and give it a full listen.

That's their third collection of singles and, while it's my favorite thing they've done in 5 years or so, is but a lowly speck of dust compared to the sheer killing power of the first two, Tossing Seeds and Incidental Music. I'd suggest starting with those (both these albums are worth every penny I swear) and then checking out the 2nd and third albums.

Agree wholeheartedly, the 7" Ribbon (on incidental music) is second only to "Cool" (on Tossing Seeds) in my book in terms of their best songs. Man, they were a fucking awesome singles band.

I listened to this album like 2x three years ago. I'll have to revisit.

Will do. Thanks for the advice y'all.
