#4 scoring defense vs. #5 scoring defense. Two very evenly matched teams.

It's on like neckbone!!! I will have my tickets in hand tomorrow. 35 yard line bitches!!!

Some preliminary thoughts:

Both are very evenly matched. I don't think either team has proved that they are far and away better than the other. This may be the mostly even matchup since Auburn/UT in 97 or 98. LSU's win over UT was an upset. They were a decided underdog for that game.

That being said, LSU will be favored.

DJ will be dangerous on the turf if he gets some protection.

LSU will be rested and we just played our guts out against our in-state rival in a brutal smash mouth defensive game. Me no likey.

LSU's D is solid.

The crowd will definitely be majority UGA fans but I don't expect it to be like the UGA/Arkansas championship where it was like 75% UGA. LSU travels well and they will represent.

I hope the weather is decent enough to tailgate.

I also hope I can get into the club level where I can drink. If not, I'll just drink the bourbon I'll have in my coat.

Why can't you drink at the SEC Championship but you can at Bowl games?

Is it Saturday yet?

My god, Derris, you're like professor emeritus of SEC football. Just think if you had a job that was worthy of that kind of attention.

How was Europe, Derris?

I can't believe you made it back into the country alive.

The SEC doesn't allow the schools to drink and they're not in control for the bow games.

I think UGA's offense will come down to DJ's ability to scramble. App St. had a mobile QB and it presented problems for defense. LSU gets tremendous pressure but if the Qb can buy some time, he'll find some open recievers.

If you can speak French then, yes. I wished I could have communicated a bit better. It would have made the experience even better.

Europe was in a word amazing.

I'm getting pics developed today and there will be a full on pictorial/synopsis thread.

Bloor, I made it but there was an incident in Amsterdam that almost insured myself a watery grave. It will be posted later.

Here we go again........

http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/uga/1105/29garail.html

I didn't hear much bitching when they got to play in the Sugar Bowl.

I can see the point on the surface but the bottom line is each school gets an even alottment and everyone else has the same opportunity online for tickets and the chance to fill the place up. The only possible advantage I see is the travel distance but that could favor someone like UT if it were held at Adelphia stadium in Nashville or something.

The article is a little misleading because the players were specifically asked if they thougtht it was fair. They didn't just start bitching.

I don't look at it that way. It's an advantage for all SEC East teams because of travel distance. If it rotated through a couple of sites than West teams could at least enjoy an occasional home field adv or neutral site. I think a rotation of Atlanta, Nashville, New Orleans (if it ever comes back), and maybe even Houston would be most fair. But it doesn't matter this year. If we lose it's because UGA is the better team.

Bowl games are a different animal completely.

How about some game predictiions? These are very evenly matched teams. Both offenses and defenses look almost identical statistically. Both have good special teams. It's a home game for UGA, but LSU is 4-0 in the Georgia Dome. I predict LSU will win 20-17.

Too close to call but I will anyway.

Since they are so evenly matched I'll just go with my pro-UGA stance and try to find reason to be optimistic.

LSU is about 3-4 plays from being a 4 loss team and they have not been very consistent on offense. AKA going in the tank against Tennessee and Arkansas and a good portion of the Florida game. Which brings me to my next observation: you lost to Tennessee. I think we can leave it at that.

I don't think ya'll are as good as Auburn even though ya'll won.

I think it may be a field position game all night and Thomas Flowers(UGA) and Skylar Green may be the difference with their returns. Also, I give the edge to us in kicking. Brandon Coutu has a cannon even though he missed those two against UF.

Slobberknocker but:

UGA: 24
LSU: 16
