Which 16 or so tracks would you include?

I'd be interested to know since I've only just started to listen to their albums having previously only known the more famous tracks like Road To Nowhere and Pyscho Killer.

I'll have to post later about this as I'm at work and can't take the time to put together a "Best Of"....

But, if you're actually looking to buy something, I HIGHLY recommend the 2-disc live set that was released this year: The Name of this Band is the Talking Heads. Essential for fans of this band. It captures them at their most creative and and the peak of their career.

I'd have to include Drugs and Heaven off Fear of Music...and I also always really liked Stay Up Late from Little Creatures. Nothing but Flowers off Naked is really good too. I'm sure you'll get tons of suggestions, so I'll just toss those out there for now.

1 vote each for "(Nothing But) Flowers" and "Girlfriend Is Better"

Also great; "Wild Wild Life," "I Zimbra," "Burning Down The House," and, of course, "Once In A Lifetime"

Actually, save yourself the time and just get the 2 disc best-of "Sand In The Vaseline."

I've only listened to their first 4 albums for the most part, but:

New Feeling
Don't Worry About the Government
Psycho Killer
Warning Sign
Artists Only
Take Me to the River
The Big Country
I Zimbra
Cities
Memories Can't Wait
Air
Animals
Born Under Punches
Crosseyed and Painless
The Great Curve
Once in a Lifetime

and maybe
This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)

Although that last one's based more on other people's recommendations than my own listening experiences

I'd add "Thank You For Sending Me An Angel".

I concur with the right honorable gentleman from Flint. That's one of the greatest "Best Of" compliations EVER.

many would say that's an oxymoron, but I appreciate the sentiment.

Just make sure it's the single version of "Psycho Killer"--much better than the version on the debut. Chuck "No Compassion" on there for me.

This is the best solution. I now keep my copy sand in the vaseline out in the car because I have since bought every Talking Heads album I could lay hands on.

if i had but 16 songs to choose from this outrageously excellent band i would choose the following 16 songs:

psycho killer
don't worry about the government
pulled up
found a job
stay hungry (live version, not the album version that chops off the end)
cities
life during wartime
memories can't wait
born under punches (the heat goes on)
crosseyed and painless
once in a lifetime
houses in motion
burning down the house
this must be the place (naive melody)
and she was
road to nowhere

Limit of 16, plus I'm arbitrarily not including any hits:

Love --> Building on Fire
Uh-Oh, Love Comes to Town
New Feeling
Don't Worry About the Government
Thank You for Sending Me an Angel
Artists Only
The Big Country
I Zimbra
Paper
Memories Can't Wait
Crosseyed and Painless
The Great Curve
Houses in Motion
Love for Sale
Puzzlin' Evidence
Totally Nude

Yeah, nothing from Speaking in Tongues or Little Creatures. My pics woulda been singles, plus I've never really liked Speaking (hate the production; most of the songs sound better in their Stop Making Sense versions) and Creatures hasn't held up for me.

Love > Building On Fire
Born Under Punches
Found A Job
Psycho Killer (live from TNOTBITH disc two)
I Zimbra
The Book I Read
Warning Sign
Don't Worry About The Government

I could go on and on...why stop at 16 tracks? They're all pretty much good.

What's wrong with "The Overload"? I actually dig all the songs on Remain In Light except the big hit, "Burning Down the House".

I know, I know, it's a joke, son. Laugh. Damit.

Oh, and add "I Zimbra" and several versions of "Psycho Killer". And "Road To Nowhere".

You should make that text bigger.
