I took 10 years of french (grade 3 to 13) & probably couldn't carry on a conversation. I think if I was living somewhere where I needed to speak it regularly, though, it'd come back to me.

Thank God someone previously mentioned pig latin. I have that one down.

I have good days and bad days with spanish. I work with mostly mexican kids so my grammar isn't so good anymore but I can cuss you out like you wouldn't believe.

I am competent in English.

Hopes before I die for fluency: Russian, Slovak, French, Italian, Latin(for reading and just speaking to sound awesome), and finishing spanish.

Ich verstehe mehr Deutsch zum ich spreche.

Ya ponimayu bolshel Paruski chem ya gavaryu.

Fluent enough at both of those to carry the listening half of a slow conversation. With a lot of "podazhdi" and "shto znachit".

Oui. Plus-ce c'est change, plus-ce c'est la mem chose. Qu'est-ce que c'est?

That's it for French.

I hope I got all those right, but if not, just chalk it up to my less than perfection.

Basic German.

Applying for some jobs where I'd have to learn French, which would be neat.

I speak French and German. I use both at work quite frequently.
I'm also gettng a reading level ability on Dutch now. It's funny.

I would like to learn Swedish but in the end I am going to have to be able to speak hardcore academic, publishing-level German.
Spitze!

A Chronology of Languages

Armenian - Much more able in my youth, could still read and write it, but speaking and making sense of it weak. Were I to spend time there it would come back pretty quickly.

English - My native tongue

French - Started in 6th grade, majoring it in now, fluent

Russian - Took 3 years in high school, can read and write, able to speak very little, but a little refresher and i'd be fine

Spanish - Just started with this last semester but it isn't too rough and I feel very comfortable with the language. Throw me in Spain or Latin America and I'd be fluent in no time.

Turkish - Starting to learn this on my own in a move more towards Arabic languages. I can read it now, but would not be able to tell you what hardly anything meant.

German - Beginning with that on Wednesday, should be interesting.

Languages are really my passion and I hope to add many more as I get older.

I learned about 10 words in Spanish on my trip to Cuba a couple of years ago and would really like to learn some more. Very nice language.

I also speak Music/tech-geek-speak. As well as Snobby-record-store-clerk-mubble.

I have to PM Ish at some point and work out some sort of bar-hopping or skiing or something. I'll be in town in early/mid March.

Still learning the Greek alphabet but it's quite good fun. I'm actually getting used to reading V and thinking N, reading P and thinking R etc etc. The capital L is a killer though, you just automatically put a stroke through it, which of course makes it an A.
