OH MY JAIL!!

Don't they need a permit to show stuff like this?

Ruby, Don't take your love to town
Stuck on you
THE GAMBLER!!

I can't decide if it was the single greatest or single worst thing I've ever seen.

Fuck! I forgot to warn Busty of this. I saw the commercial for it, called him (he was on the road), and then forgot why I called. Gott-damn I'm stupid. I hope he caught it... I can't believe he hasn't ditched me yet.

When I first saw the commercial, the first dude I called was Burger.

At least you remembered why you called. Man, he's gonna trade me in on a better model at this rate.

Let me translate for you nicky. They're excited about Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie playing together on Crossroads on CMT. Through their intensely tight and efficient network of friends, and in spite Squirggle's good intentions but poor execution, Busty has been alerted and will tune in. Thus, tragedy has been averted. In order to bring such a precision maneuver off, they have foregone the clumsy conventions of the English language for a colloquial dialect that to this species of male, is nearly as fast as thought itself. In short, they're telepathetic.

Nope--I actually watched part of it as well, and thought it was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen. Lionel and Kenny both trying to upstage one another at points.

Am I the only one who saw this thread title and thought it was in reference to Britney's movie from a few years back?

Dude. Sorry but that was really cool. Richie is of course a cheese ball with his acting like he doesn't know when to come in on Ruby. But he sounds just as good as ever (Fucking tell me you don't know the words to "Easy", or "Three Times A Lady"!)

Kenny fucking owned too. After seeing that, I will not hesitate to see him live. Period. Helps that my gf has some sort of secret obsession with his music that just recently found out about.

But yeah, I'm really happy I came home early to watch this.

To me, it was like some producer was like who are the two weirdest people we can put together for a larf? It had that vibe to me, I can appreciate each artist in their own right, but this was just a waste of my time. Sorry.

Probably not, but my first thought was definitely the Karate Kid (and Steve Vai.) Did it bother anyone else that entire movie was about the Blues, and yet at the end the kid defeats Satan's guitar player with fucking Classical scales?

I thought it was pretty obvious that they were paired together. I mean Loinel wrote "Lady" for Kenny back in the day. Besides "The Gambler" and "Ruby", their songs are all ballads for the most part and sound EXACTLY alike, vibe wise. Seems pretty cut and dry.

Then I was thinking this morning that Lionel is responsible for bringing Nicole into this world, so he must be destroyed. But, then I played "Stuck On You" and all was well again.

God I'd like to bite her (Nicole's) face off.

Exactly. Lionel wrote some other songs for Kenny back in the day as well.

When you work in AC radio the Kenny/Lionel amusement/tolerance factor fades significantly.

"Ruby" is still awesome, but if I never hear either man sing again, I'm pretty sure I won't feel deprived.

Well, fucking Kenny says during the interview parts that he "considers himself lucky to have a friend like Lionel. And it is also clear they have known each other since The Commodores days. These guys have beat up more cooze, and smoked more freebase with each other than most of you people can dream about. GODS!
