a bunch of places around here are opening up tomorrow. They've been getting dumped on as well. Filthy Mountains.

I feel dumb for using the quote function on the first response.

we just got our first real stormy weather of the winter this week so things should get good starting this weekend. it has been strangely dry - but then it opened up this week and hasn't stopped.

wish I had more time to get up there - only an hour or so away but I am busy w/ finals right now.

Snowbird, Alta and Solitude have received nearly 3 feet of new powder in the last 2 days. :D

I haven't been up yet this year, but I believe bitterbuffalo has been up several times, including today---bastard.

Living in Utah does have some advantages---35 minutes from my driveway to the parking lot at Snow Basin

It's been raining ice here this week. So conditions are, yep, just about up to Quebec standards.

I only got 4 days in lasta season, so hopefully this season won't be any worse than that.

I ride, but there's no chance I'll get out till maybe mid-January. Can anybody recommend some decent mountains close-ish to NYC? Is Mount Hood a'ight?

you bastards are making me angry - I need to get back to the nonjusticiable political question doctrine and the outer limits of the commerce clause

I was up at Whistler last weekend for the film festival. The hill is only open to mid-mountain and, even though they're getting lots of snow right now, you'd still wanna use your rock skis.

If you're not gonna make it to Vermont or New Hampshire, Hunter's probably your best bet, but it's crowded with all the people too lazy to get up early enough to drive to Killington.

Avoid the Poconos at all costs, nothing but misery there.

Let's call it favourites, top 4:

1. Whistler-Blackcomb
2. Mont Garceau, QC (east of Quebec City at the mouth of the St-Lawrence - all steep fall lines)
3. Whiteface, Lake Placid, NY
4. Jay Peak, VT

I need to do something about the depth of that list.

I have been to limited places only, so:

1. Mt. Bachelor, OR
2. Squaw Valley, CA
3. Heavenly, CA
4. Mt. Hood Meadows

Heavenly, CA/NV
Mt. Ste. Anne, Quebec
White Face, Lake Placid (I've had great skiing there, and lousy skiing there)

I was at Lake Placid during the Spring Break of Gulf War I, 40 degrees and rain, total shit skiing, but hooked up with some nifty co-eds from U. of Providence, so we ditched skiing on Wednesday, got totally fucked up in the hot tub and road tripped to Montreal. Damn, I miss college.

We were at Mt. Ste. Anne during the Lake Placid games, watched the "Miracle" with my Dad and Uncle at one of the base lodges. In-freakin'-sane.

My god folks, you need to get out to Utah sometime:

1. Alta, UT
2. Snowbird, UT
3. Park City, UT

I've only skied 3 non-Utah resorts (2 in Washington state, and Bogus Basin, ID), thus my Utah-heavy list.

I think i mentioned to you once Rad that I go to Whistler every year; just got an email from my buds in Seattle who have already made a run up; apparently it was download city, with some fun stuff up top.

I usually only get to ride once a year for my week long trip to Whistler and maybe a weekend trip to N. Carolina--which I dont care how good you are--is the most death defying shit ever---because its ice and homemade snow. Fucking broke my wrist up there.

Five years in, I'm still not that good, but I fucking get out there at Whistler every year and do my damndest and have a blast.....

I'm not sayin' you have to live here, rp. Trust me, you come ski at Alta and tell me you don't want to visit Utah for a week at least once every February  I've done my share of Pacific NW skiing--you won't be listing Mt. Hood in your top 4 any longer.

Now, Utah politics is a different story........ :wanker:

1. Rogers Pass - Alberta/BC border. Not really a specific hill but I did a lot of back country skiing here in high school.
2. Fernie Snow Valley - Fernie, BC
3. Kicking Horse - Golden, BC

You should gimme a warning when you're gonna be up there next. There's always a possibility that I could ditch work for a day and act as a mountain host.
