The ones that make you laugh (in a good way, not derisively) just about every time. Are there any particular songs that do it for you?

Me:

The Bonzo Dog Band
Still funny, even the 1000th time.
Especially "The Sound Of Music" -- still elicits an involuntary, audible guffaw. Every. Stinking. Time.
Love that band.

I'm gonna add another one:
Steely Dan
Hell, their name alone is the name of a steel fucking machine from Burroughs' Naked Lunch. And their lyrics are just subversive and clever and occasionally very funny.

Also: De La Soul has a pretty great sense of humor.

Type O Negative.

not musically, but Peter Steele in between songs has such a dry self depreciating sense of humor, its become kind of a hit hearing him chatter between songs.

I wish I woulda held onto my copy of Scatterbrain's "Here Comes Trouble"...I don't think I ever traded it in, but I dunno what happened to it. Around the same time there was a band called Lord Tracy that had a couple funny songs, like "Piranha" : "This ia a song about a FISH...and fish are BAAAAAADDDD!!!!!!"

But my vote for this thread goes to Too Much Joy. I can't think of another band that came up with more funny lines while not being an out & out comedy act.

Just like the guy from Midnight Oil
Except he's bald and from Australia

TMJ's stuff holds up surprisingly well. I can't think of another line on the topic of aging I like better than :

"The Playboy centerfold's younger than me"

This was a real band, Spoon? With a following & everything? A hundred years ago a camp counselor of mine had a tape of theirs with a song called "Fuckin 'ell, it's Fred Titmus!" Genius.

Oh, and Zappa needs to be mentioned.

If we're talking visually funny I find GWAR rather hilarious.

Morrissey, despite his public reputation as a misery, regularily gets a chortle out of me.
