Anyone buy this yet?

I like it, but I think it kinda sucks that the videos are on a seperate disc from the episodes.

that's the main reason I don't want it. I broke out some old VHS tapes recently with B&B on it and when they rank out the videos, it's the best part of the show. There were so many funny quotes, it pisses me off that we'll never be able to see them all.

Still a hilarious show years later. Mocking shitty bands never grows old.

It's still better than the Time-Life crap they released a few years ago, with no videos included. I'm not sure if there's some kind of legal issue that keeps them from including the music vids just as the original episodes aired or what. It does suck, but B&B are a part of my depraved childhood and they still crack me up.

I think I have a bunch of episodes on tape and until they release them with videos intact, I'm sticking with the videotapes.

Best Beavis & Butt-head music-video criticism:

Butt-head, on Helium: "This chick has small nostrils."

Beavis, on Korn, and in "super nerdy rock-guy mode": "This band, while intriguing, proves very derivative of the genre... It is just an exploration of childhood alienation set to deadening beats, not unlike other bands like Anthrax, Faith No More, Jane's Addiction...." (Sadly, and though in quotation marks, not an exact quote.)

Beavis, on Violent Femmes: "Come on, smash it. Smash it.... I can't take this. Just take the bat and smash it."

Butt-head, re: same: "Chill out, Beavis. They're going to smash the cake. It's, like, a rule: if there are a cake and a bat in a video, the cake's going to get broken."

Beavis, on Beastie Boys: "COCHISE!!1!" (Obviously, in reference to "Sabotage".)

Butt-head, on Pavement: "This band needs to start over and try to kick ass. It might still suck, but it could be like that band, Jesus Lizard... They suck, but they kick ass."

Beavis, on same: "Plus, they need to clean the tub."

Butt-head, on Sugar Ray: "Shut up, Beavis. There's, like, this part in the video where they do this cool dance."

Beavis, on same: "So, you like it when dudes dance together?"

Beavis, on Ween: "They need to shut up and start making sandwiches."

Butt-Head (on some shitty synth-pop band): "They must have realized how much this sucked and so they brought in all these naked chicks to make up for it."

Beavis (on the same): "Yeah, yeah. They did the right thing."

While watching Accept's 'Balls to the Wall':

Butthead: Well, he is saying “balls,” and normally that would be pretty cool.
Beavis: Yeh. But under these circumstances, it sucks.
Butthead: Yeah. Usually demolition and destruction is pretty cool too, but I dunno, it’s like, here it’s just like, it falls flat.
Beavis: Yeh. Yeh. I think even if they had some fire in this video, it would still suck.

And later when zombies appear:

Butthead: Check it out. It’s Krokus coming to kick their ass.
Beavis: Yeh. Heh-heh.
Butthead: It’s the night of the living bands that suck.

It's just a matter of licensing the music that's in the videos for DVD release...which is a time-consuming & ( more importantly ) expensive feat. It's the reason why something like "SCTV" takes years & years to get to DVD ( & there was never a VHS release aside from a John Candy "best of" ) , & why the sets cost $60 each.

I have a few of those Time-Life DVD's, & yeah, they're lacking.

My favorite B&B slam, about Grim Reaper : "Didn't we see them at the State Fair last year?"

i like it when they are watching some unknown grunge band and one of them says something like

"aren't those the black hole sun hills?"

"yeah i think there are these hills in seattle where you just drive around and bands are all over the place...hey - there's soundgarden, hey - there's alice in chains"

"that would be cool"

"yeah"

I like the one where they go to the "Creatures Of Rock" festival - for some reason, when the ticket scalper calls Beavis "Big Chief" it absolutely puts me on the floor with laughter everytime.
