Personally I take my end of the year list very seriously, have lists dating back to around 1990 or so. Consequently whenever December 1 hits I usually just listen to stuff of that particular year until about mid January when I finally make it official. Since Shmoo list is due at the same time it has worked out very well with Obner.

I came up with this idea because I was going to make a thread on Obner asking thoughts on M.I.A. Then you have someone like Remi say that Beck is his favorite release from this year (who knew?) I also played Face the Truth for the first time in a long time today and wondered what else I really need to play a few times before making that list.

So my idea it this, I will name one major release each night with part of a positive review from the net. Then Obner can write out whatever they want about the record in question and you can do whatever you want with that information. I think I know enough of what is going on and Obner taste where this will work. I will post a new album about midnight Pacific Time every night for the next day. Any albums you want me to cover you can PM me with the idea and will post it, with rap or hip-hop I can always use the help. I do want to stay mainly with major indie rock albums not under the radar type of stuff but keeping in tune with Obner taste of course.

This thread is for ideas, have any?

I will do the first one M.I.A. Arular later on tonight and we will see how this turn out, hopefully more music discussion.

So only one album then?

I'm not sure I really understand. Every night, you're going to make a thread where we discuss one album?

Yes, it will go something like this, I will post for example Low’s The Great Destroyer with a review. Then people who like or hate the album can write a mini review of their thoughts on it.

I’m hoping that the people on Obner will read and give their input on these albums for others who really don’t know the album. Then if you like that persons taste you might want to hear the album by the end of the year.

Which is quite possible being that you're sober most of the time.

my guess is that you'll choose obvious releases that we've talked about at great lengths already. (as is the case of MIA and Low)

i agree. and that's not very useful or interesting at this point.

go with the less obvious choices and it might be more interesting Bee. cool idea though.

I don't do anything approaching this. Way too focused and genuinely obsessive for me, rather than lazily obsessive. I don't have a Type A personality much.

Don't even know if I still have last year's list or not.

I think this is a great idea. Having Obner reviews of albums would be really helpful and interesting. I can already tell from reading the MIA thread that I have no interest in that CD. I'm looking forward to reading about the ones I do have an interest in.

Good work Bee.OK!

i've done the same since 1984, but i try to have my list done by new year's, so i start reviewing earlier... so i'm -obviously- game for this. :) just don't count on my review being worth a fuh
