I think that if you don't make the catch for any reason and immediately get up and do the "throw the flag" gesture, it's a 15 yard penalty from the line of scrimmage and loss of down against your team.

Also, if you make an unnecessary dive into the end zone, you lose the six points and are penalized 15 yards as well.

Actually, the first was from the USC game, but then I saw that Shaq TE do the same bullshit move. Have some fucking class and get your fatass back to the huddle.

I hate the NFL. Personally, they should either shit or get off the pot regarding celebrations. A $5000 fine don't mean shit. If you want to stop it, call the TD back and penalize them. If you just want to make press releases about meaningless fines that will likely never get paid, then just let them celebrate all damn day long.

I'm not a big celebration advocate but it doesnt really bother me too much---though I do think the league has the right to throw out fines as they see fit, like the fines for not having your jersey tucked in and shit.

And, it is totally a win-win for the NFL to upstand its rules by levying fines for celebration behaviour to TO, Chad Johnson, or Joe Horn, but pretty much letting it go in the big picture because those celebrations are also like free advertising----and Cory, you of all people understand marketing.

Plus, I bet you've thrown out some mini-celebrations on the diamond after a big play. :wink:
