The year is not over yet, and I think there are two upcoming releases that could make my Top 5, so I will not be doing this just yet.

Not yet.

I've got a top 20 written out but it's not final and I refuse to post it until January 1st. I'm always getting cd's for Christmas.

The LP cover is actually fantastic-er, but I can't find a shot of it. In any case, you do have to hear how good it looks. It's an incredible album.

It's also the year Markus Guentner was born.

Basically, it's first-rate ambient music from one of the best electronic labels in the world. If Brian Eno decided to make another Apollo or Ambient 4 with today's instruments, it would probably sound a like like 1981. Allmusic has some audio clips for you to sample.

Sort of ... Basically, yes. Fahey precedes Rose (in every way) but Rose has his own sound.

these 5 most likely won't change, altho the order might:

01 "picaresque" the decemberists
02 "cold roses" ryan adams
03 "illinois" sufjan stevens
04 "i'm wide awake, it's morning" bright eyes
05 "twin cinema" the new pornographers

kanye and 2 ryan adams albums are the only ones that have a shot at cracking this, but prob not.
