This surprises me a bit of you. Then again, you were the one to introduce me to Deerhoof, so perhaps it makes sense.

Why the surprise? Because it's somewhat more conventional?

I don't even really consider it their best album, but I love it. The more I listen to it, the better it gets.

Also, it may interest you to know that I've finally started liking that 6 Organs album a lot more, and it'll most likely be in my Top 20 if not my Top 10. I'm also liking that Badgerlore (which Chasny is part of) album a lot more as well.

Yeah, the Deerhoof is not as jagged instrumentally, and I think that it doesn't mesh as well with their vaguely strident vocals. Maybe just more conventionally recorded than conventional. There are some really impactful moments, that I attribute mostly to effective recording. Some good compositional spots.

I'm uncomfortable putting "School of the Flower" in my top 5. Maybe just because I overdid it. I do think it's a great album, and am glad you've turned good on it.

Goddamn...I'm gonna agree with a bunch of people and say this is too early. Also, if and when there is an OFFICIAL top whatever of 2005, can we sticky it?

These were both on the EP for You Are the Light, if I recall. What's her name - the french chick - was playing anti-war demo on ZBC a lot earlier this year. I actually like these b-sides a lot more than "Dog."
