Yeah.
I play a Squire Strat, too (a 1988 though).
It's good to have the Fender name behind you.
And I was able to get it at the local shop, as opposed to on the 'net or at a megastore like Guitar Center or Sam Ash,and that makes me feel good.

Teach him how to do the Townsend windmill then encourage him to smash it all over the living room.

When he's a bit older you can show him how to light one on fire like Hendrix too.

Also be sure to teach him all of the key rock & roll guitar poses.

Or, he needs effects that his dad can jack for HoP shows. I mean, borrow.

Good Job Toddie.

He is 6.
I plan on pulling out my acoustic and practicing with him once he starts lessons. Plus, I have a couple of cool excercises for him, as well.

And as to the effects...
All you really need is a good guitar and a good amp; know how to tweak the settings, and you can hit some sweet tone any time!!!

That looks like the guitar that I started with. Squires aren't bad but mine always had trouble with the input jack being loose. They are definetly good for the price though.

You're gonna feel bad when he passes you up by age 8.

So? EVH used a power drill...

PS I use the screwdriver thingy, too. You know what else is cool? Using a drumstick, bouncing them off the guitar strings (it's an art finding just the right place so that the partials that show up aren't too offensive -- or are sufficiently offensive, as the case may be) while holding a chord.
