The bass player is an old college friend of mine; one I haven't seen in almost 10 years. The mp3s sound pretty good, what I've heard, and he's always had great taste in music. (He is the one that dragged me to see the Pixies on the Doolittle tour, and also to see the fIREHOSE show where Uncle Tupelo opened and changed my life.)

Anyway... check it and if you see them play, say hey to Josh for me.

And let me know what you think.

The Liberty Bell song reminds me of some old REM.

I don't think I'm digging their website, or militia speak though.

Uncle Tupelo opened for fIREHOSE? Odd pairing isn't it? I've not heard much fIREHOSE but always took them to be a lot louder. I might be totally wrong.

1989 -- Halloween.

UT were a local band (I was at univ. Of Missouri at the time) and were gaining popularity. Of course, in the early UT days, hey sounded a lot like Hüsker Dü fronted by Hank Sr. They were plenty loud themselves. (Just listen to No Depression.)

fIREHOSE was a staple of my friends in high school. Actually one of their better documents is their EP "Live Totem Pole" in which they open with four covers in a row - Blue Oyster Cult, Public Enemy, Butthole Surfers and Superchunk :rawk:

Nah, I just assumed they were loud because Mike Watt was their bassist. I've heard lots of Firehouse in my day, used to listen to Don't Treat Me Bad constantly when I was in Jr. High.
