Yes, the new album is nearly complete and will be released next year. Produced by Rick Rubin.

Actually, I don't think my friend played on their second album either. AMG seems to think it's just the singer now.

Belle And Sebastian
Beth Orton
Jenny Lewis solo debut
Paper Moon
Young And Sexy

Those are all guarantees for next year. Wow, they're nearly all female too. Hmm.

Other than that, I don't know anyone who's definitely got a release coming out.

Forgot about the Lips.

I'll be wicked psyched if the new Shadow does in fact get released in '06. I mean, I know it's scheduled to and all that, but still. Dude takes his time.

Morrissey
Drive By Truckers
Strokes
Neko Case
P J Harvey
Sluts of Trust
80's Matchbox B Line Disaster
Belle & Sebastian

Most of all the bands I've not even heard of but who are going to blow me away next year. Six of my current Top Ten are by artists I'd previously never heard or not owned albums by and it would be good if something similar happened next year.

goldie's coming out with a new album? that would be AWESOME.

me:

radiohead (duh, that's a given)
cut chemist (his first full-length is due early spring or something like that)
PORTISHEAD (um, hello are the rumors true? bastards.)
arctic monkeys (so much hype for a band that doesn't even have their full length out yet)
the stills (if they're even working on something new)
colored shadows (my current favorite local band, i'm hoping they'll come out with a full length next year)
metro area (i'd love for them to release another artist album)
yeah yeah yeahs

Don't hold your breath. Superdrag broke up. John Davis is a solo christian rock artist now.

i hadn't heard about any of these.

Cut Chemist's solo album...wasn't that completed like 5 years ago? I wonder f it's taken this long to clear the samples (he should've just gotten Shadow's wife to do it) or what. I hope it's not gonna be a bunch of swing samples of some other outdated shit...

Well, that sucks. First the Delgados, and now Superdrag.

When I saw them at Sunset Junction this summer they played 3 new songs. I'm sad to report that I hated all three.

I think Pumachik was there too though so maybe she felt differently. I loved their first album but thought their last one was just so-so which I know was far from the board consensus.

Racebannon, hopefully.

I thought they were going to put out a new one this year, but instead we got a reissue of their first album and a two-disc rarities comp.

Under sounds. 1 & 5 are from them. This is really the only thing I can think of for '06. I'm not drawing a blank either, it's just I want this rather badly.

Hmmmm. I'm a big Self fan. This is a lot different. But a little catchy. I'd try it.
