I went from five months of unemployment and sleeping in until one p.m. everyday to being thrust into a 40+ hour workweek. It's killing me.

I'm constantly sore and angry and can't take another five hours of the Il Divo dvd tomorrow followed by "don't phunk with my heart" six times in one day.

37.5, or 7.5 hours a day for the math-challenged

In my old department I used to work about 50-55 hours each week (but I was paid for overtime - I miss the extra money, but I'm much happier in my newer position)

40-50 in the office.

then if you count answering emails from home and doing stuff via IM, add on another 15-20 per week.

What's that?

I work at this lame mainstream record store called HMV. One of the bigger Canadian chains.

The daily eight and a half hour shifts wouldn't be terrible if I got more than the one half hour break and wasn't on my feet for the entire duration.

With my job, I work until I'm done then I can go home. However, I always get paid for 40 hours a week. Lots of overtime during the Holidays, since this is the big booze time of year.

I'd say I actually work 32 - 35 hours a week, but since we enter our hours online, I "work" 40.

I averaged 7.5 but it all depends on what's going on.

33-40 hours a week. Depends on which shifts I get (some are 8, some are 6, etc.) and how busy it is. I almost always work 5 days though.

I try to work just my stated hours of 8:30am to 5 pm.

From time to time it can get near midnight if there is a crazy deadline.

So...

40-45 per week on average.
