what the fuck are you getting up my ass for? I just said I like Lewis Black...I could care less what the fuck these people do to make money, but I do stand by my statement that Cross' comments are partially because of economic jealousy. Sorry, thats the damn truth.

And yes, Mr. Show is the funny stuff.

they'll probably make a completely fake but seemingly serious black and white documentary about their feud....maybe one of them will throw up in the bathroom......

That's a good theory, Senator. Given Larry's background (as cited by fightingliberal), I wonder whether he really sees his fans as anything but a source of revenue.

I'm still not buying this. Larry had done radio spots in Baltimore for at least several years, well before he had any sort of fame and was presumably slogging around comedy clubs and doing bits for other radio shows.

I don't see how his merchandising of his character to make enough coin to live comfortably is a big deal.

I just found out yesterday from a good friend of mine something very weird about Larry the Cable Guy. Her Aunt is dating a guy who is Larry's stand-in. The real Larry apparently suffers from MS, and sometimes can't do his shows, so her aunt's boyfriend does them for him. Weird. Apparently he's a dead ringer for the guy and has a spot-on accent.

So he's effectively a clown. The old Bozo dies, we'll just paint up another goofball and throw him onstage.

That's pretty crazy.

Get the feeling that if this were Simpsons merch rather than Blue Collar merch there wouldn't be a problem with it?

I never said it wasn't. (doubt this was directed to me)

I DID say that this is a ploy by two "characters" in the comedy business. It's like when Barry Windham did the heel turn and joined the Four Horsemen, They all still brok steroid needles off in each other's asses before a romp of man sex on the way to the next gig.

10-1 there's a "Red State V. Blue State" comedy tour before the next Prez. Election (ATTN: SATELLITE, I WANT RESIDUALS ON THIS ONE!)

I have an incredibly hard time believing this. She might want to hide her valuables.

I can't vouch for its authenticity, but my friend typically doesn't lie, in general. Maybe the dude's lying to her aunt, but I don't know.

Yeah, that's definitely more in the direction I was heading.

I have nothing wrong with what he's done to his cable guy character on its own. His choice of material and method of delivery is his business. What I'm wondering is if the persona the voice of his book is just another character that he's trying to pass off as his 'real self' as a way to identify with (and thus con/exploit) his audience.

Forgive me if I seem hardheaded. I'm kickass busy and the board is helping me procrastinate. Haha.

Is he really passing it off as his real self? I don't know; I didn't even realize he had a book. And, is it exploitation if he stays in character when plenty of boneheads like Ann Coulter, John Gibson, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh do so and try to pass off their characters with more serious subject matter?

To me, the book is just an extension of the character. I don't see it as any more harmful than the book published by Scott Petersen's paramour or Charles Moose.
