I can't decide if I like this or not. I guess it'd be good for a club, but probably not something I'd listen to a lot at home. What do you think, Dana?

I love Annie's album even at home. To me, Anniemal sounds like a Basement Jaxx record but with a single vocalist instead of many. That's a good thing, for me at least, because it's no secret that Jaxx are one of my favorite electronic bands of all time.

This record will definitely be in my Top-10 of 2004, no question about it. It's fun, the music is cutting edge and innovative, and let's face it, Annie's accent is hot.

Oh yeah, I also learned recently that Annie originally worked with a progressive house producer named Tore A. Kroknes (Erot), who was also her boyfriend. Unfortunately, he died when Annie was in her early 20s, and it's a shame because he produced one of the best tracks on Anniemal, "Greatest Hit."

I like this album. It's not super fantastic. But it's fun, in the early Bjork sense, just with like more girly vocals. It will probably make my list.

oops, sorry, Shmoo, I totally missed this topic....

I listened to it a few times over the weekend. It's very pop. I'm actually surprised that Pitchfork rated it so highly. I like it on a purely escapist level. While I would agree that some tracks remind me of early Bjork, I think it's even way more accessible than that. It actually reminds me of what Madonna used to be-- fun, upbeat music with very little to say, but danceable and appealing on many levels. It's what people like Britney and Christina WISH they could do and get away with.

Jury's still out on this one, but with a few more listens, I'm feeling I'll be able to give a definitive thumbs up.

One more remark... I think my favorite tracks on the album so far are "Always Too Late," "Heartbeat," and "No Easy Love."

I'm listening to this for the 3rd time in the last 24 hours, and I'm really starting to love it. (I have listened to a bunch of girl pop in the last two days in the same vein: Girls Aloud, Kylie Minogue, Rachel Stevens, etc. etc.)

I am in love with the song "Heartbeat" and I finally just saw the review on Pitchfork about an hour ago and notice that two of their reviewers feel the same. We agree!

Point is, this is a fantastically fun record, but somehow altogether different than all those other girly electro pop outfits coming from the UK.

Plus the girl is beautiful.

That's the video for Chewing Gum which lyrically is one of the most ridiculous songs I've ever heard. But it's a nice video. :)
