Dead on.

And, of course, you should bother.

I agree with sketch but what do you mean by really liking the Mark Lanegan records? You mean you like his solo work or you've heard the songs he guests on w/ QOTSA? Because most of his solo work sounds nothing like QOTSA and he only guests on a few songs.

"Rated R" is their best album, IMO.

Rated R or SOngs for the Deaf...although Lullabies to Parayze get better with each listen for me too.

And once you are under the spell of Josh Homme, get his side project's debut:

Eagles of Death Metal - Peace Love Death Metal

and the soon to be released:

Eagles of Death Metal - Death By Sexy

The Desert Sessions albums aren't too shabby, either.

Definitely try it. I listened with a suspect ear at first and grew to really love their stuff. I've never heard the first album or the Desert Sessions. Yet.

i'm talking about his solo records. i know he's only an infrequent quest, but it was his involvement that got me interested. i like what i have heard, but have never heard a full album. i will go with sketch. he has never led me astray before and even sent me to a pretty good curry house one time.

Yeah...just wanted to make sure that you weren't expecting the whiskey-drenched dark folk blues sound of most of Lanegan's solo work or even Lanegan's involvement in much of their work.

I endorse both of Sketch's recommendations, but still Lanegan solo (other than his last one which I think is just ok) is much better than QOTSA IMHO

c-c-c-c-c-co-caine!

And I concur with the majority. Also, if you like Mark Lanegan, you should definitely go backward and pick up some Screaming Trees.

Songs For the Deaf
Rated R
Lullabies to Paralyze

any and all Kyuss material. Didn't really like QOTSA's debut album.

they're playing with Autolux up in LA this month. Trying to conjure up the spirit to make the 2 hr (1 way) trip.

Have to confess it would be more for Autolux than QOTSA. Future Perfect defines cool.

Rated R is the best. SFTD has a really flat sound which I do not care for.

I'm a big fan of Rated R, Songs for the Deaf, Eagles of Death Metal and Kyuss.

However, I haven't had the slightest bit of interest to listen to Lullabies to Paralyze. Is it any good? Hearing the single "Sister" kinda put me off. I found it to be pretty boring.
