Have seen them twice. More recent of the two was April '02. Really get to acquaint myself with their post-Kids In Philly stuff.

nah, but i'm friends with two people who played with them last night. The sax player and one of the Shalitas. They both are on the albums, but i don't think they tour with them.

The most common comparison is Springsteen meets The Replacements. They are from Philly, and there are some definite Springsteen influences there. I also like to throw in A.M. or Being There Wilco, Manassas and Steve Earle rockier side. More focused than Centro-Matic, not as country as Son Volt, not as gritty as Lucero and not as southern as DBT,but if you like any of those bands, it wouldn't be a stretch to get into Marah.

They play really fucking good solid rock and roll with swagger, and they are definitely one of my top 5 favorite bands going today.

i saw marah a couple years ago in a small club and thought i was watching a late 70's springsteen bootleg. the singer even had on one of those floppy hats that bruce used to wear. it was great. a heavily influenced band that doesn't sound like a rip-off of anyone - it's hard to pull off.

i haven't seen them in years but they were azlweays a good show. i'm not really feeling this new album though. it's good, but in a very nonmemorable way.

the singer used to lretty much live at the Khyber and would run around with a discman, forcing people to listen to whatever demos they were working on. it was kind of annoying.
