Been listening to this one a lot recently and getting a little under that twee spell. Much love here for these Aussie wimps? Just so damn well done. Sure, ya kinda wanna kick their asses sometimes and tell em it's rock and roll, but still, it's just so sweet. Kinda like the American version we have in the Fruit Bats. Both pretty nice, but the Lucksmiths are really a high quality band.

Play their last one a lot, but don't have Warmer Corners as of yet.

I'd never even heard of this band before Friday night and after hearing one or two songs, I'm in love.

Is this readily available at my local record store, or will I have to find it online?

Maybe in a well stocked indie, but it's distributed on a little indie called Matinee Recordings in Santa Barbara, CA. I wound up buying mine online from a place in Toronto called poppolar.com because I was looking for a copy of Shack's Waterpistol CD and they had it for a good price, and I didn't want to order just one CD, and they had it featured on the front page at the time, and I knew the previous CD was good, and .... ;)

It may just be me, but I half expect all the B&S songs to break into
"Come Dancing, that's how they did it when I was just kid..." at any moment.
Kink-y and I'm OK with that.

I like it a lot, but I think you knew that already.

Yeah, you were the one that first brought them to my attention way back when. When was way back when? That must've been the Why That Doesn't Surprise Me CD that you were high on, right? Some good songs wound up circulating around back then from that one on your compilations. Which one is the best? Do you have the last one too? They sure are prolific. How come you haven't yet commented on the Sunlandic Twins thread? Isn't that number one with you this year? I've listened a couple times or so to it but it's been hard for me to absorb. Maybe too much going on. A lot of my favorites right now seem to be kind of simple and more somber. But I can tell it's some high quality music. Gonna keep pulling it out and giving it a try - bet it all comes together when I get back into a more hectic and happy music cycle :)

I think Why That Doesn't Surprise Me is still my favorite of theirs. The last one didn't do that much for me, but Warmer Corners is a really nice album, and one I should spend some more time with.

I read through the Sunlandic Twins thread, but wanted to spend some time on a post and I keep getting interrupted.

Used to like them, but when you've heard one Lucksmiths song, you heard 'em all.

The Aussie accent will really, really grate on you after awhile.

Plus the softly brushed snare gives everything a sameness.
