Their self titled is the #1 album of the year.

Hands. Down.

Here's a live stream of them on Spinning on Air

If you like this, I would be absolutely amazed, and shocked.

i've only heard one song OPA put on a mix. i hated it at first but I warmed up to it. I haven't heard enough to give a riyl, but I would say it's more ticklemonster and less Rolling Stones.

On the Review I said

kron/ Family - Lumen - I was set to give this song a bad rating as I never liked it, but I'm listening to it now as I type and I'm liking it. So this gets slow grower status. Some of it still irks me especially some of the vocals which seem a little over the top. However, I like building of the song and how it makes you think a climax is coming and holds off to the end. Rating - 6

I wouldn't say it's very "ticklemonster" (not that I have the best grasp on the concept). It's hard to give a good RIYL because the album jumps around a little. I'm listening to it right now, actually, and one of the last songs played, "Lumen", reminded me very much of OK Computer Radiohead. The next few are somewhat sparser, folkier numbers.

It's possible Loogs would like it. It's not such a far cry away from something like Okkervil River although it's generally slower and artier.

You're right it's not really ticklemonster. More stuff the Loogs normally considers unlistenable. But he's surprised me before on stuff I wouldn't think he would like so who knows.

If its slower and artier, I probably would have to hear it at the right time to not immediately consign it to the GAR bin, but I'd kinda like to hear this.

Here's a song:

On second thought, I'm pretty sure Loogs wouldn't like most of this album.
