I love how this band always has interesting arrangements and instrumentation to the point where even I ignore the open sissy factor. and this record is all over the damn place in a good way.

that is all.

The last 5 albums were all great. More of the same is fine with me.

yeah sorry man, a bit drunk and probably worded it a bit wrong! In fact prob should not off posted cos it bugs me when someone gets negative about a band i love. Just was looking for something great & only liked funny little frog.

But still to question someones intelligence just because someone disagrees and puts it in straight words is pretty weak.

I like it too. I find it rather upbeat compared to their previous work.

Haven't heard it yet, but DCW didn't sound like the previous four to me. In fact I thought they mixed it up a little.

Basically why I love them even though Stuart sings like a neutered gerbil.

Pause and Play has the US release date as Feb. 7, 2006 back on Matador Records.

I think Dear Catastrophe Waitress if their best but really wasn't that big of a fan before.

I have sworn off 2006 stuff until I make my list. It driving me crazy because I have stuff like Mogwai calling to me.

I like the album fine, but my only complaint is that by emphasizing a cohesive sound throughout, any standout tracks kinda blend into the scenery, to bludgeon a metaphor. Or it could be that there simply aren't any amazing tracks a la Catastrophe, Step Into My Office, Piazza, etc.

Yet, I really enjoy listening to it from beginning to end, probably more so than any other B&S record thus far (like, I always skip over certain tracks on others). It's a fun, poppy record, with a great feel, typically interesting Stuart M lyrics, and more retro pastiche/spot the influence. And that Sleepyheads song is a trip.

Almost finished with the new B&S bio, so I'm definitely in full-on fanboy mode...
